I used quickstart to install the template. But when I finish installing I only see this:
Welcome to the Frontpagehttp://www.southbaypreowned.net/listings/
That’s the link to the original install, and I can log into the administrator area, but the frontpage just shows that. I installed using the sample data, yes to the FTP and data base data is correct and tested. If I change to a different template in the admin section I still get the same page. Welcome to the frontpage.
I appreciate any help on this matter.
Thank you.

April 7, 2009 at 7:30 am #300378Look at the source code there is no data there check your configuration file for info to see if its connecting to the database
April 7, 2009 at 7:42 am #300379Thanks for replying.
I’ve checked the config file and all seems correct. I figured if the administrator area works fine that means the database is connecting correctly…?
Tested the FTP login data and the database I don’t know how to check for it, I use cPanel but, I can login into the admin area.

April 7, 2009 at 7:53 am #300384If i was you, i would have tried a fresh installation again, it looks more of installation error. how did you install it in first place?
1. FTP? unzipped files and uploaded to server?
2. uploaded zip to server and then unzipped? If using FTP>>uploading individual files >> there are chances of time out and incomplete upload. Its easier to upload the quickstart.zip and unzip from cpanel of your hosting provider.

That really is a messed up installation!Try re-uploading the whole thing again, if not try JUST installing the Joomla package from joomla.org and then install just the template from JA. That will help identity the problem (if any!)
April 7, 2009 at 4:56 pm #300449So you think it’s a messed up installation..? You’re a fountain of knowledge. I FTP’d the zip file I downloaded from JA directly to my cPanel account, unzipped there too, then ran the installation routine just like I’ve done a dozen times before, only this time I only get that screen you see.
I could do the clean install of Joomla 1.5.10 and then upload the template, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a Quickstart file to start with a copy of what I see in the demo page.
I will do that, but still, I wish I could install a clean copy of that template with all the articles and modules. Is there a workaround to that if I manage to make it work..?
Thanks all for the replies.

April 7, 2009 at 5:51 pm #300451I did delete the installation folder. I uploaded the Joomla! original code… install correctly. Now I have to upload the template only, but I wanted a “canvas” a website pre-filled with info, that is why I needed the QuickStart file to work. Anyway.

April 7, 2009 at 6:00 pm #300454So, sorry, I wanted to reinstall and restored the deleted installation folder. My bad.
I’m gonna redo the whole process because I now have three databases for testing, I will reupload, reinstall and try again the quickstart file.
I will re-download the file from JA too, in case some bits were lost in the process.
Contact you in a bit

April 7, 2009 at 6:05 pm #300456ok. I think the quickstart is better for you
April 8, 2009 at 8:13 pm #300576Well, I deleted the database, redid the whole thing and still the same error appears.
Here’s a step by step explanation:
1. Downloaded from JA the Cooper template.
2. Unzipped to obtain the Quickstart file.
3. Logged into my cPanel Legacy File Manager
4. Uploaded the qs_j159_ja_cooperbusiness.zip file.
5. Unzipped the file
6. Go to MySQL Database Wizard, create a new database (write down the user, pass and database name)
7. Type domainname.com to start the installation routine
8. Fill all the blanks, populate fields for db user name and pass and then db name. localhost too.
9. Put in FTP details, FTP route is found. All is OK.
10. Put site name and admin password. Install content. Check and done.
11. Delete installation folder
12. Click to goto Site. (I just see Welcome to the Frontpage message, nothing else.)
13. Log into Admin side, all looks good and it loads fine and all options and modules are available. I can even install language and components.http://www.southbaypreowned.net/listings/
That’s it, and this I’ve done several times now. Same results even downloading the ZIP file from JA from another computer.
I’m about to give up and choose another template altogether but that would mean accepting defeat.
I did manage to install Joomla! from scratch, but I want to have my quickstart file working. So I can have a pre-filled website.
Thanks, hope this helps you to determine what could’ve happen

So you say you managed to install Joomla from scratch, is this after the qs failure or before?
also while a pain in the butt, I ahve never fully trusted the cpanel method of unzipping files I prefer to unzip on hdd and full ftp them up? So far this has avoided any potential problems like your experiencing, If you wish me to clean up your previous attempts and install for you, PM me, I have done this for others here without problemsYour call
