We are using JA University Template { version 1.0.4 } on our joomla site {version 3.6.2}. we got JA University Template update notification on my site for version 1.0.6 and 1.0.7. For the testing we have apply these update on a development site with the same version. After applying these update the site got completely distorted. We found that the written CSS files are getting overwritten so we have added backups of our our customised which restored the site structure but upto some extend only & not completely. We checked the cause of this design distortion & found that there are changes in the name of the container classes.

Please help us to apply these updates in a proper way so that the site would not get distorted. And we also want to knew that if we did not update the JA University Template then will there be any affect at the security level of the site ?

    Hi
if your changes are in the core files , these will be overridden on template update .
You have to save your custom changes before the update and a full backup of the site . After update apply the custom changes again .

    OR
For CSS changes I suggest you to use custom.css file (/css/custom.css) , this will not be overridden on template updates .
