Images are working on my slideshow, but no text. I’ve tried pasting the content of the demo site module with no luck. I’ve deleted and recreated the module and disabled/enable the module extension. Nothing seems to work none of the text I paste in the module configuration shows up in the source code.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Question . . . . When you installed your JA Bistro template, did you do so utilizing the quickstart installation method (w/ sample data) ??

    Hello osdwebmaster,

To Text not showing on Slideshow

I am sending you background configuraton for JA Slideshow module , You can refer to that :-

I had to FTP the quickstart zip and install from the tmp directory. I don’t think there was any sample data.

Thanks, I’ve checked my settings against that already. Still doesn’t work.

Here is a STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL for how to perform a quickstart installation w/ sample data.

ALL of the templates have quickstart installations and ALL have the option to install the sample data you see on the demo. Personally, I always use the quickstart installations w/ sample data – as it provides a “demo copy” starting point from which one can modify/customize with a pre-configured guide already established.

In your particular case, performing the quickstart install with the sample data would provide you with the slideshow configuration just as you see in the demo – with text and all. From there, you can edit/customize as you like.

Thanks Tom. To clarify, do I need to uninstall the template and re-install it this way? If so what do I do about the content I’ve already created? Will it still be there? If not, is there a way to back it up so I can restore it later?

    Thanks.

You don’t have to perform a clean install using the quickstart method – it was only a suggestion.
In my opinion, however, it’s the quickest way to get it right from the start.

How much custom content have you entered thus far? You CAN back up your MySQL database and then, after starting from scratch, import/overwrite the respective content tables with your backed up tables – which should give you back your previously entered content.

Well…. I re-installed everything and it worked fine. I replaced the contents of the description field with my own and I’m back to where I started. The images display fine but the text does not display. I paste the original text back in the description field and still nothing.

Comparing the source in developer tools on my site to the source on the demo site, the entire “<div class=”ja-slide-desc”>….</div>” is missing from the source – no matter what I change the content to.

Okay… finally got to the bottom of the issue… the images must be named sl-1.jpg, sl2.jpg etc. If I use custom names like homeslide-1.jpg, the text does not appear next to the image.

I would suggest either documenting that fact or (even better) fixing it so that any image name could be used. That way I could have meaningful names and store all of my slideshow images in the same folder.

Actually, any image name CAN be used . . . you just have to make sure you are referencing the correct image name/extension and the correct file path for that/those image(s).

Tom, it might, but I cannot get it to work on my site. I spent two days testing different combinations of data, images, uppercase, lowercase, etc. The only thing that worked was renaming the pictures to match the original ones.

At this point I’m just happy I can move forward. Thanks for your help.
