It takes almost 10 seconds for the 1.5 version of this template to load. It takes 2.3 seconds for the Joomla 1.0 version. I’m sorry, but you just can’t justify that kind of performance difference.

I’ll check on you J1.5 folks in a year or so when everything is native. Unless ya’ll come back to 1.0 before then. 😉

Speed is critical. but it is not the main reason why Joomla is not ready for use yet. And, you can take your pick:

    1. Some or many of the extensions you use in your Joomla 1.0.x may not be ready yet for Joomla 1.5

    2. It is possible to use the legacy mode for some programs, but then, some other programs want you to turn off legacy mode.

    3. Without a way to allow Admin approval of registration, the auto-registration (assuming the user has the correct email and then clicks on the confirmation), the auto-approval of validated registration can cause your site to get so many spammers and bots as your users.

    4. Use it if you want your Intro Page to be called “Home”, and if you change to another site, it may now be label as Siberia, or click another and you may end up in another site called “How to date…”, etc.
Why? Because in their desire to improve the Joomla in 1.5, they forgot the most important — that a website must have a common name, not a collection of pages — starting with Home.

    5. More than likely, if you turn on SEO, you may not be able to access many pages.

There are more, of course, why you may not consider Joomla 1.5 to be your flagship Introductory site, for now.

It is wise to play with it though.

    N.B,
As to why it is slow? Did you notice how long it takes to upload the software? It is much more bulky now, I hope it will not become as bulky as Windows OS, as it continues to evolve.

Before blaming everything on Joomla 1.5.x though, sometimes the problem lies with the extensions, or templates not fully compatible with Joomla 1.5.x
