September 26, 2008 at 9:41 am #133758And yes i have set it in backend to display images both featured and normal news items.
Anybody else experience this problem? It would be great to get it to work.

I also have thois prob. have spent 3 days so far tryingot fix it,yes read userguide, set it up exactly same- no joy.
I am wonderign if one has to set up the home menu item any differntly- is as default frontpage.
do the items i wish to show in ja news fp all have to be from one specific category?
I have tried both to now avail, info shows fine on article once is clicked to show on frontpage but no image shows.
How should I insert the image ?
I am using j1.5 so no option for mosimage. when i insert an image manually ( by browsing to my image folder in the stories area) i get warning text. just the word warning.i have correct width, height specififed, for the images that i have created . PLEASE HELP as i cannot spend anotjer day at this! the rest – ja news , is fine. at least you get to choose cat ids for them!!!

SOLVED: Thanks but found answer in telines forum – was just the images folders permissions had to be chmodded!!( to be writeable so the ja news fp programme could access it i suppose!
oh so typical ha ha ,thanks for reply though – dont know how to make this say solved….
RosaNovember 1, 2008 at 9:54 pm #277728Hi,
I have the same problem.
The pictures in the folder “resized/images/stories” have the CHMOD 600 and therefore they can not be displayed.I can’t change the CHMOD each time I create new news. It must be another solution.
How can I change the code of the Ja_news and J_news_fp Modules, so that the pictures get the CHMOD 644 ??
Thanks

November 2, 2008 at 7:21 am #277754Hi,
I am having a similiar problem. I have read the user guide many times but am not seeing the connection between images/folders/articles.
Some basic questions on the configuration.
1. What folder should the images go in for the JA News FrontPages module (images/stories)?
2. Is this folder called out in the settings? I would like these rotating folders to be separate from other images.
3. How do I associate the images/photos with a particular article?Thank you

</blockquote>Surely it would be possible to set the entire ‘images’ folder permissions to overcome this?

</blockquote>With regards the images, you can store them anywhere in the /stories/ directory.
For instance, I split my /stories/ directory into various ‘sub-directories’ (ie: Travel, Food and Drink, News, Lifestyle, etc). Therefore, when I upload my images, they are in an ‘identifiable’ sub-folder of the ‘stories’ directory which matches my sections.
When you then insert an image into your article, simply choose from the relevant folder for that section.
Good luck to both of you!

November 2, 2008 at 9:10 pm #277814Now I am not getting the text below the photo to show up. I am sure it is something simple I am missing.
I went back to the JA Rutile instructions and followed it to the t. I have attached a zipped pdf of my steps.

November 3, 2008 at 4:46 am #277857Everything looks fine in the article editor. One thing you could try is to click the ‘HTML’ tab in the text editor and check the code for any ‘strange’ commands that shouldn’t be there, for instance
<b>
or</b>
commands. If there are, take them out and republish. This can sometimes stop the text from appearing, especially if the text has been pasted from another application such as Word.

November 3, 2008 at 5:19 am #277861I did have some artifacts in the page which I cleaned up. I also created a brand new page with minimal text.
The text now appears in IE 6.0 which I don’t remember working previously but still no luck in Firefox 3.0 and Chrome.
I cleared out my cache several times to make sure.
If you have any other suggestions I would greatly apprecaite it.

November 3, 2008 at 5:38 am #277863I found out where the error was.
In the “advanced parameters” I had a value for “Headline Fixed Height”
I set it back to “0”.
Thanks so much for your help.
