May 8, 2008 at 5:23 pm #248244I believe the JA team is overloaded by 2 templates in 30 days. The customers, it means us, want a better looking and a more sophisticated template in each release. We want the next template look, feel and work better than the previous ones. This, I believe, is not an easy task for a team of XXX developers (I don’t know how large the JA team is).
If the JA team is having difficulties to make a template every 15 days, which obviously is the case, than they should enlarge their team and hire additional developers so we can have 2 templates ON TIME as promised. But in this case they will have to share the profit, which, I guess, is not desirable for JA people. As a customer, I would expect to get a fair service and the JA should be able to provide it even if their revenue goes down by hiring additional developers.

Intresting post, and i would say a regrouping of the JA-Team should be done very soon.
when it comes to the bugs in the templates, as i posted earlier in another tread, teline 2 was tested in different enviroments by a few people and the bugs we found was corrected.
But the bugs still shows up, and this was errors we did not find at our time testing it.
So we need more time on testing the templates before the official release, but remember there is no specific support for 3rd party add ons and a guarantee that the templates works perfect with 3rd party add ons. When it comes to template releases there is not set a specific date other than its gonna come 2 a month, and the template that comes now is the first one for may, must be a typho..
and i hope its not released before thuesday next week, so it can be tested out and hopefully most of the bugs has been sorted out.1 user says Thank You to Menalto for this useful post

May 8, 2008 at 6:02 pm #248247What is most ironic is that the issue of two templates per month vs. one template per month was put to consensus last year – with the majority consensus from the JA membership (who bothered to respond) being that they wanted the schedule to remain at two templates per month.
Of course, given the time it takes to develop and test quality templates . . . you then have the people who waste no time complaining about the bugs and support.
It’s literally a no win situation for the JA Development Team.
Perhaps if people would try to appreciate the creativity and effort that goes into the development of these templates and the functionality that goes with them – as opposed to simply taking such for granted – more might realize that it would actually be better to go to a one template a month schedule. Such would allow the JA Development Team more time to design and develop the kind of high quality and high functionality templates that people want.
May 8, 2008 at 6:03 pm #248248I (also) think that it’s possible with the current number of club-members to organize things better in a way that they can keep there current promises.
Maybe they don’t have to hire an extra developer for a long time. I think it’s possible to get back on schedule again within three or four months.
During that period it must be possible to develop extra templates at the same time. Then before releasing the templates they should have been tested by (easy to find) volunteers (experienced users). I’m sure that this will improve the quality and decreases the need and time for support.
I’m sure that the return of investment is within a couple of months.
Is this a strange thought?

May 8, 2008 at 6:31 pm #248251What is promised and said should be done! It is fair enough in the case of two templates each month.
I do understand and realize how difficult and time-consuming it is to develop a decent template, but this is a business: JA provides goods and services and we, the customers, give money for that. As I previously mentioned, let the JA people do whatever it takes to make the customers satisfied be it hiring extra developers or working in a different tempo.

May 8, 2008 at 6:35 pm #248253oh well, this discussion has been going on a long time before. And I don’t care if the quality is very high AND only if it is announced properly. I just think it is not showing any respect to members if JA just skips one template like we’re crazy.
Perhaps JA can cut this mindreading short by simply informing us if this is an error, or indeed a skip to the next template immediately?
Thanks!
TomMay 8, 2008 at 7:03 pm #248254Well well well,it sure is bitching time in the forum :-[
i kind of feel embarassed for my fellow members,i know we all are customers but hey a delay doesent mean you wont survive the day or does it??.I think most of the templates from here are great work and i’ve enjoyed using them on my personal sites, i understand it is somewhat anoying to wait for something you payed for but give thoose guys a break. It might turn out the waiting is worth your money. Just my humble opnion.

May 8, 2008 at 7:49 pm #248257Everyone needs some holiday.. Also they announced the delay before going to holiday. I think everyone is able to wait a few more days.
But this one is true.. The Galena Template is not the 2. for May! It should be the first ..
Why does everyone is looking for a failure of the JA Team. I think they make their jobs good. The results are their templates.. Much better then Yootheme or Templateplazza..
Just my opinion!!mihu Friendmihu

May 8, 2008 at 8:29 pm #248262I think the best way for them is to talk to 5 year membership members regard to 1 template per month issue.
If 5 years membership members are all satisfy with that, they can start to change their package to 1 template per month.
A year after they changed their package, they can start making 1 instead, and whoever sign up after they change are luckyly recived extra template for awhile (up to 1 year).Anyway … just a thought

May 8, 2008 at 9:11 pm #248263Its just a shame Ja didn’t take the opertunity six months ago to advertise that they were going to change to ONE template per month, so in six months time we would no longer hear and see these same old post.
One template is a must…..if what you are all after is top quality templates and some help along the way.
As it is now, how can anyone keep up with looking after all of you who have gone to the 1.5 version with all the errors that has shown. And all the extra template that two per month brings.Schwoelm FriendSchwoelm

May 8, 2008 at 9:39 pm #248264Hi to all,
with interest I´ve read all the posts depending JA Galena. Now my opinion:
1. Some are writing, that it is (only) a promiss of JA to deliver 2 templates. That´s wrong – it´s definitely a contract between JA and the customers.
2. No one of us customers have a right for the deliver of both templates before the last day of a month (in the worsest case) or is there anywhere written, when JA has to deliver?
3. Anyway it would be a well behaviour of a company to plan its vacations better – without any delay.
4. Anyway it would be a well behaviour of us customers, this first delay to accept and to clear with the company, that it shouldn´t be for a second time.
Conclusion:
Both sides should look that their behaviour and/or posting is a gentle and well one, like it should be between adult people.
Best wishes,

May 8, 2008 at 11:24 pm #248270Now you mention the release of the new template, it would be suitable to definitely correct the mistake in your templates. Where it reads

This is an heading 1… This is an heading 2…

should say

a Heading 1…

I pointed it out long ago and 3 or 4 templates were corrected but that didn’t last.
All the best
rubenPS Sorry for my being so touchy.

May 9, 2008 at 12:55 am #248275My suggestion (Changed since last year)
JA should start with 1 template a month. Make an announcement to start from let’s say January 1st 2009. Start with new membership right away so new customers and those who renewing membership fully understand that from next year only 1 template a month will be available. Continue delivering 2 templates until January 1st and CUT after that.
UPDATE YOUR POLICY BEFORE ANY CHANGEPLEASE HIRE GOOD DESIGNER,
You have abilities for good coding we see that, but you need a very good web designer.
I hope you had good vacation. :p
