Can you guys optimize the code a lot? The site is so slow to load. I feel it’s so bloated…

You may wish to check in for following steps::

    1) Please ensure to have gzip page compression enabled in global configuration in admin
    2) Have in settings to have css and js optimized ::

    in template parameters

    3) Also, Mainly, Check on the bandwidth being offered by your hosting provider as it can impact a lot on site speed 🙂

    Hi,

I can aslo confirm that this templat is extremley slow!

I had the same problem once with one of the YooTheme templates.
I think they have solved the problem by reducing the amount and size of the PNG or transparent PNG images.

Maybe it can help the developer of Ja_Portfolio to solve the performance problem with this beautiful template.

    Hi tomyhomy,

The images can be optimized easily using online image optimizer:: 🙂

It is even super slow on a localhost! I have turned development mode off, Optimized the images and css and js optimized. Did nothing for performance.

Which localhost environment provider are you using as the speed seems to be fine for me in mamp on mac 🙂

I hope there is a solution for the performance because this is a nice template and I would hate to go pick another one. It takes anywhere from 10 to 15 seconds to go from one page to another on a T1 line

I don’t believe this template comes with Twitter & Facebook plugin or modules

I am running also on MAMP – Mac OSX 10.6.4 – takes 5-10 sec to load each page on a localhost.

Do you get the same performance issues when browsing the demo version on Joomlart?
That would be a good way to discard that you are not having a configuration problem or excesive image weight.

It would also be very useful if any of you could post the url of a live site 🙂

    Peace,

This template is super slow. Very very very very slow. I put up a demo of it to show a client and it was so slow. He then asked for a wordpress based site, whch by comparison is maybe 5 times quicker to load.

Maybe Joomla is just slow and WordPress is the way to go??? Even though WordPress has some limitation as a CMS, it is actually pretty bloody good if you use the right plugins and widgets.

Sorry mate.. I really dont get the same experience as you do. I have deployed more than a hundred sites in Joomla and all of them load under 2 or 3 seconds… I even have sites that load under a second and show on Alexa as Fast sites, faster than 75% of all internet sites.

Part of the issue is the slide show on the home page. The load time was about 13 seconds with it, its now down to 5 seconds without it. Still slow, but better than 13 seconds.

The load time will be faster after disablng of slideshow module as it contains image of larger dimensions which will have large file size even after optimization.

It is something not relative to template but moreover about images which can tend to slow down any site 🙂
