Hello,
I’m really pissed off now.
I’ve been waiting for weeks for your Joomla 1.7 update and when I saw it was finally online, I migrated all my website and it took me two days.
And now what ? I just found out that the Ja Teline IV new version doesn’t work anymore with Flexicontent ! All my website works with Flexicontent, that’s why I chose your template !If you decide to give up Flexicontent, that sucks but I can understand it. What makes me really angry is that you didn’t mention it anywhere ! Please, put it very clearly and very big in the download area : NOT WORKING WITH FLEXICONTENT ANYMORE.
Thanks

September 13, 2011 at 3:58 pm #412414Greetings Vicky:
I am not sure I fully understand your outrage . . . JA has not “given up” Flexicontent because JA has never used Flexiconent in any of it’s templates. As you know, Flexiconent is a 3rd Party CCK that works with Joomla based sites. Provided FlexiC is compatible with J1.7, it should work with Teline IV for J1.7.
Were you using FlexiC with your Teline IV J1.5 based site?
What are the specific issues you are experiencing?
You will also want to make sure they are using the latest file to be sure Flexi is coded out properly,
see this –> http://code.google.com/p/flexicontent/downloads/detail?name=com_flexicontent_152_stable_r185.tar.gz&can=2&q=September 14, 2011 at 11:15 pm #412736Sorry for the dramatic tone, a bit too much indeed but I was really tired and hungry and the thing is the new release really does not work with Flexicontent.
There are two problems with the creation of the items links url.
First : The JA News modules items links lead toward the com_content and not the com_flexicontent. I could possibly change the code of the modules files if there wasn’t the second problem.
Second problem : it looks like the Flexicontent menus are ignored and so are their itemids.
As their itemids can’t be found, they are replaced by the homepage menu itemid in all the items links urls displayed on the homepage.
For example : if the homepage menu id is 490, all the items links urls will look like /index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=xx:xx&catid=xx:xx&Itemid=490
This means that all the items links in the homepage lead to… the homepage.
I tried with JA News modules but also the content modules like “most read” one : same issue. If you’re interested in recreating the issue :
1/ Install Flexicontent for Joomla 1.7 :
http://code.google.com/p/flexicontent/downloads/detail?name=com_flexicontent_2_0_beta3_r892.zip&can=2&q=
2/ Import the Joomla structure (sample data) in Flexicontent
3 / Replace the types of the menu “Football” and “Sports” by the Flexicontent category menu types.
4/ Go on the frontpage and click on the first item of the JA News featured module : “Are England right to be optimistic ?”The Flexicontent version I use is a beta one but it works fine with Joomla 1.7 and other templates so I guess the problem comes from the JA Teline new release. I precise “new” because the previous ones work great with Flexicontent.
If you have any solution to solve the issue, I would be very grateful.
Thanks for reading me.
Vicky

September 15, 2011 at 2:23 am #412757Flexicontent is not released in any stable format for Joomla! 1.7 – in fact, it hasn’t even reached RC stage yet, it is still in beta – so development or support for Flexi in 1.7 cannot be offered unfortunately. Hopefully as flexi moves forward towards a stable version for 1.7 more support can be added for all products.
