I originally customised Elastica by modifying the files in templates/ja_elastica/css
I’ve modified most of the layout files (layout-normal.css, layout-tablet.css etc…)

I’m recreating the site now and want to do it properly so it survives upgrades.

I’ve created a theme in ja_elastica/themes. Do I drop any modified files in there to override the default? (I’ve activated in the backend). Do I copy the whole files or just the css that has changed?

You just need to copy the css file you changed befored.
