March 29, 2012 at 10:51 pm #175573I’ve just added the JA Nex template to the news section of my site (therebel.org/news) and am in the process of configuring it. To make it easier to configure the modules and menus, I’ve set up a separate JA Nex based site with the demo data. (therebel.org/nex) so that I can just look on the demo site how you guys set it up. Unfortunately, setting up the mod_janews_featured and mod_janewspro modules is proving very time consuming, partly because the modules on the demo site and the later version on my site are different. For example the theme selection for mod_janews_featured and mod_janewspro modules does not give the option ‘nex’ as it does on the demo site, and it takes me for ever to work out how to make the frontpage look the way it does on the demo site.

March 29, 2012 at 11:12 pm #446397You should be able to use the JA Extension Manager to update both releases to the latest versions.

March 30, 2012 at 2:54 am #446409i already upgraded the extensions on my main site, but there is no theme selection option ‘Nex’ listed the way it is on the demo data installation. I’m hesitating to upgrade the demo data installation because i’m worried that I might lose that option there too.
The demo installation actually uses version 1.1.0 of JA News Featured and version 1.1.1 of the JA News Pro! module, whereas my main site is using version 2.5.0.
I even uninstalled the module, downloaded the latest version, which btw is the same version I was using before, reinstalled the module and configured it exactly the way it is described in your usermanual pic. The only difference is that I still dont’ have the option to select Nex as the theme. When you go to therebel.org/news you will see the current setting with ‘default’ as the theme. I also tried Teline IV and other templates instead, but to no avail.
Maybe this is something to do with the fact that JA Nex is not my default template, but JA Social. I’m only using JA Nex for the news section of the site.

March 30, 2012 at 6:43 am #446426In modules>mod_janews_featured>profiles there should be a file called nex.ini which is the profile for nex
If it is not there create the file and place in it the following code
{"themes":"nex","animType":"animNewsMoveHor","duration":"500","autoplay":"1","autoplay_duration":"10000","numberofheadlinenews":"6","bigitems":"3","bigmaxchars":"150","smallmaxchars":"0","showhlreadmore":"1","showtooltip":"0","thumbnail_mode":"crop","use_ratio":"1","bigshowimage":"1","bigimg_w":"490","bigimg_h":"280","smallshowimage":"1","smallimg_w":"140","smallimg_h":"80","align":"0"}
In modules>mod_janewspro>profiles you should have the following
nex.ini containing
{"themes":"nex","subcols":"","showusersetting":"0","cols":"3","introitems":"1","linkitems":"3","maxchars":"75","showcattitle":"1","showsubcattitle":"0","showcreator":"0","showdate":"1","timestamp":"0","showreadmore":"0","showtooltip":"0","showimage":"1","thumbnail_mode":"crop","use_ratio":"1","width":"210","height":"120","align":"0"}
and nex_sidebar.ini
{"themes":"nex","subcols":"","showusersetting":"0","cols":"1","introitems":"1","linkitems":"3","maxchars":"210","showcattitle":"0","showsubcattitle":"0","showcreator":"0","showdate":"1","timestamp":"0","showreadmore":"1","showtooltip":"0","showimage":"1","thumbnail_mode":"crop","use_ratio":"1","width":"238","height":"280","align":"0"}

March 30, 2012 at 1:09 pm #446453Those profile nex.ini files are not missing. I double-checked them and the contents of the ini files is the same as described above. I doubt the problem is the nex.ini files though. I can select nex as the profile and I did. The problem is that I cannot select ‘nex’ as the THEME, which is the second template related setting.

March 30, 2012 at 1:17 pm #446454I have tried to login to your site but the credentials you supply do not appear to work. Can you send me via PM a super admin login and an ftp account. Please include a link to this thread in your PM.
In addition, I see you are using Arabic on your site. Hopefully you are aware that JA Nex is not fully RTL compatible?

March 30, 2012 at 9:59 pm #446539Done. Btw, I wasn’t aware that I’m using Arabic on the site. I had a quick look in the language and extensions managers was related to Kunena. Maybe Kunena installed Arabic by default. Anyhow, I got rid of it.

April 4, 2012 at 11:16 pm #447376I’ve been able to select the Nex themes of the modules using Safari on the iPad instead of Firefox on my PC.
