Perhaps I caused the problems myself.

I installed the NEX template using the Quickstart package. Installation went great without problems. The Quickstart installation package contained Joomla 2.51, I upgraded Joomla to the latest release 2.53, also upgraded Kunena to the most recent release (1.7?).

Then I started my modifications, I installed my theme (Brown), and was unable to activate it.

    (1) Regardless of which Theme I choose (either the theme I created, or a theme that came with NEX), it does not change the theme.

    (2) If I set SEO “Use URL rewriting” to YES, when choosing “K”unena from the Nav Menu, results in 404 Error, I am not sure if this is a template or Kunena error.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you verified the file and folder permissions are correct?

    Arthur,

Did this not get fixed in the ticket? I can see brown in FF but not in IE. I think Dat was looking at your problem?

    Phill,

Thank you, the issue has not been resolved. With the original ticket we decided to wait for the results of Blaine’s suggestion. Now that all of the file and directory permissions of the site have been verified or changed, the issue continues.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Blaine and Phill,

Thank you for your help. This is taking too much effort, I am deleting the site and starting from scratch. I will not use the quickstart again.

    Thank you again.

The problem continues, the template color will not change.

I cleared the cache for the site and for my browser (Internet Explorer and Firefox). I verified this by changing an item in the main menu, and I was able to view the new menu.

I deleted the old site, reinstalled Joomla 2.54. At this point, all directory permissions were 755, and file permissions were 644.

I installed the JoomlArt Modules, Plug-ins and the NEX Template. Those items installed with directory permissions of 755 and file persimssions of 604.

Note: I did not modify any file. All files are “out of the box” new.

Any suggestions other than changing the file permissions to 644??

I have tried to log in to your Joomla Admin panel repeatedly and I can not get in with credentials provided to explore your issue. please correct this, give me Super Admin access and I will take a look!

    Blaine,

My appologies, I installed the new site and failed to add the additional administrator user and password for JoomlArt.

I logged onto the site this morning (Pacific Time) and using Internet Explorer I had the ability to change the template color.

I have no idea what the problem was and cannot offer a solution. Especially, after changing file and directory permissions, re-installing software for the site, manually deleting cache for the site and the cache within the browsers. (I even installed and tested Chrome on the chance it was a browser issue).

Can I make the suggestion, that the file permissions within “quick start” file be set to 644 if that is what is required.

Thank you to both Phill and you again.

    Take care,
