It seems the forum is getting more heated, and we are getting too polarized. What follows this polarization is the unwanted personal attack.

Do we really need to go there?

It may be a matter of perspective. I am sure there are some of those who I criticized directly might have considered my criticism a personal attack.

But as scathing as I have been in my criticisms, and I could be when I want to — from the beginning — I do not recall ever accusing anyone of being

    racist
    idiot
    stupid
    etc.

neither have I deflected any criticism to my criticism with phrases like

someone must have gotten out of the wrong site of the bed
    GRQW UP

    or posted pictures or cartoons

    that should not be here.

I am sure if I review my own posts, there might be things that I would have reworded differently, but I can be feisty, especially if I consider that the other side is accusing me of something I did not do. And, when I make a mistake, I made sure to state my apology.

In the end, from my own set of values, I try to remember the fine line between criticism and personal attack.

We can disagree and even disagree vehemently but we must try to avoid going below the belt.

I agree with you Cornelio, and I am trying to do as you describe above. But, I am not one of people who turn another cheek after one slap. Simply, I do not like to be attacked from people, specially for no reason or with some stupid reason. If that happend, I will return.

You know, I had one old professor on my University, teaching human behavior, and I learned something sad, but in most cases true: “With cattle you can speak only on it’s own language”.

Some people here, simply will not understand you of you are polite and have manners, and why is that? Cause, they do not have it.

Sorry, if I’ve been ofensive to anyone, it wasn’t my intention.

I understand your point tempusserbia. At the same time, if you read between the lines, on how it was delicately written, you may understand also why it was written at all. You may have become part of those that were criticized here, but if you understand the subtlety, you will not even be offended, as you may even get why the post was written and the timing when it was written.:)

I can be feisty myself, when someone attempts to turn the table on me, and would not hesitate to be more specific when I want to — I just do not engage in personal attacks, nor would I engage in prolonged “street fight”. I learned that lesson when I was quite young even before I entered school.

One can publicly criticize somebody to be possibly a racist — without the person even realizing it — based from the body of evidence that is publicly available. And, that is not a personal attack, but a valid criticism, if the body of evidence holds true.

Of course, not too many people really understand the fine line between a valid criticism and a personal attack.
