I just noticed it. In the forum, my response was marked Today: 1020pm (rather odd time, it is 620pm EDT. where in Europe is that?). Anyway, in the Introductory page of the Joomlart Forum, it is marked as Yesterday 1020pm.

I have now travelled back to the past.:)

EDT: Eastern Daylight Time, observed in the North American Eastern Time Zone during daylight saving time

Yeah the “Yesterday” problem has always been there, just never been mentioned till now!

    Hi hanifahmed,

I am anal about these things.:) I seldom go back to the Intro page after posting, so I never noticed this before. Today however, I have several unanswered stuff for a bit some time now, so I had to go back to the intro page.

I mentioned this because one of the issues I raised in the Forum is a bug in the Teline template — it does not provide the correct time. It does not automatically detect Daylight and Standard time.

This bug in the Teline II bugs me. Why include a feature at all about time, if the time is not correct?

    It remains uncorrected.

    In the cryptic statement:

“…was marked Today: 1020pm (rather odd time, it is 620pm EDT. where in Europe is that?”

I was comparing the time the Today: 1020pm and the time where I am (620pm EDT Boston). I know EDT. My sister and some friends live in London & UK cities. Five hours difference, same as in Paris, I think.

So where is the server located, so that it was marjed Today: 1020pm when the time in Boston was 620pm EDT.

The times are MEANT to be

“All times are GMT +1. The time now is 01:12 AM.”

as stated in the footer of every page.

But Hung is based somewhere in Eastern China / Japan I’d say.

    Hi hanifahmed,

They should specify that. Usually it is used mainly in scientific or technical communications. Many servers here in the US usually use their location, which is not helpful either. The script should show local time of the visitor.

Hung and many of the staff are Vietnamese. They have offices in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Hanoi) as well as in Paris (or France) based on their business addresses.

I would think they would use a server in Western countries to take advantage of the high speed internet main highways.

Before the United States got enmeshed in Vietnam, the Vietnamese people basically defeated the French in their native land. Their leader at the time, Ho Chi Minh sought the help of the United States. Ho Chi Minh did not want to become too captive of the Chinese and the Soviets.

But this was the height of the Cold War, when MacArthysm was also at ithe pinnacle of influence in American politics. The so-called Yellow peril (rather racist that is still shows its head here in this Forum) and Domino theory obsessed American policy makers, and the West.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think Ho Chi Minh studied in the USSR, so he was automatically dubbed as a Communist. The Western world made a stand to defeat communism in Asia by making a stand in Vietnam and supported the dictator based in Saigon (Ngo Din Diemh, if I am not mistaken). This led to the dvision of Vietnam — North (under Ho Chi Minh based in Hanoi, the prominent city) and South (based in Saigon)

Well you know the history, perhaps. When the North Vetnamese defeated the Americans and their South Vietnamese Army and government allies. Vietnam was reunited. I am not sure now if Hanoi was renamed Ho Chi Minh city, after their revered leader died.

Lost in Western retelling of the story of the Vietnam War was that more than two million Vietnamese died compared to the 65,000 American soldiers who died or missing in action.

To complete the story. Because of French colonization of Vietnam before
