June 6, 2013 at 2:47 am #188028Hi all,
I know there is a lot of documentation out there and a lot of places to get bits and pieces of info to assemble into what you need in order to build a custom template using the T3 framework, but it seems that it’s a lot of work to put it all together into practical use.
I make custom templates for my web clients and I’ve been considering putting together some screencasts for other developers to be able to pick up on some of the basics of creating from scratch with this framework. I’m pretty good at this, but by no means an expert – especially on the newest stuff, the responsive aspects, etc, but I feel like I have a lot of information to share.
And of course, since I run a business full time+, I have more desire to do this than I have time to do it, so it will be certainly slow going.
My initial ones would be some simple stuff like assembling the tools, setting up a basic development system of doing things, creating the right databases/files, getting the quickstart going, going through some of the LESS files and css files, doing some basic overrides, and other topics like how to do module styling, and component customization. I realize that many of the folks here already know a lot of the basics, but I read a ton of posts and see a lot of questions on other forums (like the Joomla.org forum) where people ask questions that would be answered by these mini-trainings and would help to expose some of the powerful benefits of using the T3 system.
I already have the domain name myjoomlasite.com (though there isn’t even a splash page there – just the godaddy advertisement), and I’m ready to begin – probably with a pretty base T3 template to start with, since the point of it won’t be to see my beautiful site, but to show how to create one – i.e. the content.
Is this something that you think many people would be interested in this or find value in having such a resource?
If no one would use it, it certainly wouldn’t be worth the time and effort to put something like this together! 🙂
I’m looking for thoughts from the community and to try and build on what’s already here in the forums. I look forward to your comments and ideas!
