I cannot get image cropping or resizing images to work in Sidenews. I can get image source to work but the images look distorted. I set images at 700×477 and thumbnail 220 x 180 but it looks distorted. Am I doing something wrong? I also noticed JA thumbnail plug-in. Do I need to have that installed to make this work?

Sidenews is so important to the homepage layout that it is frustrating that I am finding so many problems with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am spending so much time on this.

Hello ianfrase,

Please check thumbnail folder if it has written permission or not. Thumbnail images must be written in thumbnail folder, then they can display on your site.

hi I cannot see a thumbnail folder do you know exactly where this folder is. There is a resize folder which I have given permissions but not sure about a thumbnail folder. ciao

It’s “/images/resized/images/” folder. Please set 777 permission to this folder so thumbnails can be saved in it.

But 777 is not the recommended folder permission. So you should contact your hosting provider to permit user “web” to write files in that folder.
