For “Latest News” under the site’s “main menu” (technically called ‘magazine’) dropdown, thumbnails are not showing up for anything but sample content

the code is identical for what i post and what was initially posted.

any ideas?

Please re-check if you have Show Image set to show in module parameters for module type — mod_jabulletin which is assigned

If yes and still issue persists, Please provide a link to your site to take closer look

It is. Sample content shows thumbnails for Latest news and World 24h… just not added content.
