after a lot of trying and dead time I found out that tiny mce appearently does not accept span tags. After saving they are removed. I found the same problem described in another thread:

So it seems to be the same with joomla 2.5. Is it a bug or are there ways to solve that problem?

Hi Ruediger,

From what I know (e.g. very little) this is 2.5 specific. I think it is because in Global Configuration there is a new section called Text Filters. I think that Super User comes with ‘Blacklist’ as standard so you need to change it to ‘No Filtering’ and see if that fixes the problem for you.
