July 1, 2010 at 4:03 pm #152207Not sure if any of you have seen this article, but just wondering what you think . . .
http://community.joomla.org/mag-v1/article/545-top-5-drawbacks-of-joomla.html
One of the particular “reasons” that jumps out at me is:
4. Joomla! is not for the elite.
Elite design companies use specialized tools. They like to use things… the elite use. So forget Joomla – apparently masses of people are now using Joomla. There are hundreds of thousands of registered Joomla developers and a whole heap more of people using Joomla Web sites. Joomla has become very common indeed.
The bottom line: Joomla isn’t for the sophisticated anymore. Stick to your Mac and your iPhone!Discuss

July 2, 2010 at 1:05 am #348722That point is rubbish if you look at thecomputerdude who frequents here, He is not JUST a web designer but offers complete customization of JA templates, so while I won’t insult him by calling him elitist 😉 His company does more with Joomla at a higher level than the backyard web designer category that I guess I fit into. So he would be the higher level specialist the article says doesn’t use Joomla
and I’m sure there are many more companies that make their entire living from Web design that also survive very well using joomlaJust my thoughts
ShannonSeptember 1, 2010 at 1:53 am #354307I totally agree uniquebiz. Ive been checking out the source code from sites built by one of the major site building players in my city, and many of them are Joomla.
January 28, 2011 at 10:31 am #374209Joomla can be good for a particular site of the parish, but I think of solutions that are a little broader, as a site for an archdiocese that integrates and aggregates every room of the parish with a distributed in various groups and communities.

January 28, 2011 at 10:57 am #374216It reads like the title suggests, tounge and cheek… and it is from the joomla Magizine.
Plenty of high end sites with specilist odds and bods operate under it 😀

Makes me smile.
