Hi,
How can i split JA’s Portfolio ‘top’ position into two areas (left and right)? I make use of the JA Top Panel module which is placed in the middle and would like to keep ‘quick contact’ module on the right as it stands now but also move ‘search’ module to the left of the top panel or vise versa. Any ideas please?
Thanks in advance!
Regards

April 20, 2011 at 4:26 pm #387311Hi Phill,
Sorry for the bad explanation. I would have post a link in advance but i don’t have a live site yet since i still test on my localhost. However i attached a printscreen file so you can get the idea. Basically my actual target is to divide top position into multiple blocks so i can be able to load relative number of modules. What am trying to achieve actually here is a different workaround for the modules placed at the top. In order to be more specific please see the following reconfiguration. Modules numbering starts from the left to the right.
1. ‘Date’: Current date display (placed at L1 position).
2. ‘Login’: An icon with pop up login module (placed at L2 position).
3. ‘Register’: An icon with pop up register module (placed at L3 position).
4. ‘Facebook’: Social bookmark icon redirection link (placed at L4 position).
5. ‘Twitter’: Social bookmark icon redirection link (placed at L5 position).
6. ‘Top Panel’: By default when JA Top Panel enabled at top is in center alignment.
7. ‘Sites’: Language selection input box from JA’s Portfolio default ‘quick contact’ module (placed at R1 position).
8. ‘Search’: Search module (placed at the R2 position).Hope that would make sense. It may sounds easy, i just do not know how to .. Please take into consideration that am just a newbie to joomla 🙂

April 20, 2011 at 4:44 pm #387312Unfortunately that could be a lot of work as that is not supported easilly by this template. It would involve creating 7 new module positions and styling them individually. You can read up on how to do that in the wiki or if you are not used to doing this then you should consider visiting http://www.joomlancers.com and getting a freelancer to do this for you.
April 20, 2011 at 6:47 pm #387323Hi Phill,
Thanks for your reply and hints. I wouldn’t have been here asking for help though if i would have consider development freelancers from the beginning. Instead, i decided to purchase both powerful T3 JoomlArt template and handy extensions member license, seeking for a workaround to my project via these worth buying elements by myself! And do not get misunderstood am pretty satisfied 🙂 for my favorite JA Portfolio template, for the well informed forum and wiki pages but mainly for all the precious help i get by you guys. As mentioned am new but have a strong will to learn. I spend hours on reading before testing towards my customization goal and i have belief that i will manage by myself till the end 🙂
However, my post above was my analytical explanation to your question in order for you to have a better picture of what am trying to achieve here. Furthermore, i do not ask for any at hand solution. I understand that you do not, at any case, have to do so. Any further hints or ideas to start with maybe? or any other obvious simple solution that i miss (like how to assign those or one of those modules into the default ‘quick contact’ custom html module, rather than creating new relative positions? Would that be feasible? This is what am mostly seeking for. If i could get advised of how to make one of the above, then i would be able to understand the flowlist idea and could proceed with the rest by myself. This is what am after.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
BG
