I think we really need to start providing some direct feedback on Joomlart’s templates, especially those of us who have invested $500 for developer licenses. Here are my observations about Topaz….

    1. Clean template. Like the elegance and simplicity. I have business clients that need this kind of site

    2. Missing a good login module

    3. On article pages, print/pdf/email icons are not aligned horizontally with content title. . See here: http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_topaz. This is an ongoing problem with Joomlart templates that needs to be corrected. Give us some nice icons and formatting! Rocket Theme is eating your lunch! Have you seen the quality of their new templates? Maybe you should.

Look at how clean their icons are: http://demo.rockettheme.com/may09/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=108%3Arokgzipper&catid=43%3Aroktabs&Itemid=37

Look at the variation chooser (ten styles!!): http://demo.rockettheme.com/?template=solarsentinel

    4. The category/section blog layout pages are a mess. Totally unprofessional. Have a look at this: http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_topaz/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=31&Itemid=46. Please fix the alignment of content and add padding where necessary to keep articles from touching each other. Please start paying more attention to the blog layouts because they are bad on a lot of JA templates.

    5. The typography is the same old stuff you have in every blog. Give us some variation. Colors. Cool stuff to really set our pages off. Rocket has even implemented its own little typography gadget. Look at all these styles! http://demo.rockettheme.com/mar09/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=77

    6. Topaz only offers two layout options? Did you know Rocket Themes have up to 30 on some of their newer templates?

Also, you really need to get more genre-based themes. We need to see themes for schools, churches, blogs, etc etc. And we definitely need more e-commerce enabled sites (VurtueMart integration with MUCH BETTER formatting than you had in Zeolite)

What about cool features? We need more gadgets and goodies. Have you seen Yoo Tweet? http://tools.yootheme.com/extensions/yootweet

Overall I would like to see Joomlart format their templates better. Time to step up your game

    Thanks for reading

Absolutley agree with you there mate!

    Agreed!

    bolero1;126807 2. Missing a good login module[/quote]
Yup – and a position for the menu on the left side.

bolero1;126807 3. On article pages, print/pdf/email icons are not aligned horizontally with content title. . See here: http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_topaz. Keeping an eye on the competition and learning from them poses no real threat to anyone!

Look at how clean their icons are: http://demo.rockettheme.com/may09/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=108%3Arokgzipper&catid=43%3Aroktabs&Itemid=37

Theres never really been a big emphasis on icons the past, hence why they aren’t really picked up on and worked on.

Look at the variation chooser (ten styles!!): http://demo.rockettheme.com/?template=solarsentinel

This has been a big issue in the past, but we have had templates with a vast selection of themes (JA Cooper for example)

    4. The category/section blog layout pages are a mess. Totally unprofessional. A bit of playing around here and there and we can fix that ourselves, but a demo needs to be at it’s best (just like a proof of a design!)

There has been recent emphasis on this – hopefully we’ll see new ones!

    6. Topaz only offers two layout options? Did you know Rocket Themes have up to 30 on some of their newer templates?

We’ve had lots of layouts options on some of our older templates as well, so don’t fret about this one. This is one of those simple ones!

Also, you really need to get more genre-based themes. We need to see themes for schools, churches, blogs, etc etc. And we definitely need more e-commerce enabled sites (VurtueMart integration with MUCH BETTER formatting than you had in Zeolite)

There’s always been a furur over this, but anything can be made into something simply by knowing what to change.

What about cool features? We need more gadgets and goodies. Have you seen Yoo Tweet? http://tools.yootheme.com/extensions/yootweet

Certainly would be a great addition.

Overall I would like to see Joomlart format their templates better. Time to step up your game

True, but they certainly do have a good selection so far (and the odd hiccups here and there).

    Thanks for reading

Certainly got me thinking this morning!!

    Thanks.

PS3 or Xbox….same applies here two cracking consols but some can only afford the one.

JA and Rockethemes again pro’s and cons to both companies…..

……now if only we could conbine the two to keep everybody happy…..lets start a new company and call it JA Rocket Art. 😀

I totally agree. The new Rocket Themes template for May 2009 is simply stunning.

However, i’d rather only give my money to JoomlaArt, and not Rocket Themes.

So here’s the challenge JA. Bring out a theme similar to the May 09 RT and i’ll be a VERY happy man (just make sure you can alter the template/column widths in the setup!).
