Where do I translate “by” next to author and “Send us a message” on the contact page?

I’m also struggeling to translate “verify password” and “Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.” in ja_login (not in en-GB.com_user.ini – it makes no difference) :((

Maybe it’s because the template use it’s own com_contact.

Check in templates folder – /html/com_contact/contact/default_form.php

Alternatively, you can add these language strings into languageen-GBen-GB.com_contact.ini like
SEND US A MESSAGE=your translation

Anther option could be replacing JA C+ contact form with Joomla’s default form. To do this, rename /html/com_contact/ in the template’s folder to /html/com2_contact/ for example.
