I’m using transmenu and found how to reduce padding for 1st level, so main menu links are closer to each other (left and right), it was nicely commented in ja_transmenu/ja-transmenuh.css

Now I’m looking and hope somebody is generous enough to tell me where to reduce padding for 2nd level, so sub menu links are closer to each other (up and down)

Why? Because I need about 20 submenu links for a section and want them to all fit on the screen. If I can just get submenu (2nd level) links closer to each other, it will work beautifully

You can look up in both .js and css files of the transmenu
