    Hello,

I am having some trouble with this Nickel with French language.

It is omitting all accents and apostrophees. Santé becomes Sant and Fiancé turn to Fianc.

I have done some research and found that some have managed to use Cufon. this seems complicated for me as I am/will be using several fonts in the futur and also I will not be permenantly responsible for running the website.

I need urgent help in solving this issue, please.

    Hi…this is simple…

go to administrator panel > in that > extensions > template manager > select ja_nickel

now to your right in parameters > there is an option (drop down)
    Enable Cufon >

Change it to NO…by default its set to YES.

Cufon does not take special characters…and hence french characters are not displayed…
if the Enable Cufon drop down is not there then it means you have a older version of the template… you will need to download the latest template pack from the site.

Prbalge, it was as simple as that. 😀

Just tunr it off and job done.

Thank you for your great help.

I found out that when I turned off the Cufon, the Font has changed. How do I get back the previous font?
    thank you.

Hi, cufon is basically used as a font >image replacement tool. What happens is that many fonts are not visible on most systems – only the basic fonts installed with all systems show up on all systems. Hence, cufon or many other font replacement tools take the matter that you type and convert it into images. But as of now many such techniques do not support special characters. Hence they do not get displayed.

So you will need to see which font best represents your Heading and then change the heading font.
