    Hi all
Trying to put some Youtube videos on the frontpage of JA University in the slideshow position. Using the Fitvids Joomla extension I am having trouble making them responsive(resize) in mobile sizes.

The fitvids extension requires you to put the .container name (class) in to make it work. I have put the container name as #ja_slideshow or .ja_slideshow but it’s not happening. Can som mod confirm the correct container (class) name for teh JA University slideshow position?

    Cheers Shannon

    Hello Shannon,

Slideshow container id is “ja-slideshow”. It’s an id of a “div” tag, it’s not a class name.

Thank Stork, can you explain then on this site
    http://www.monsoftwebdesign.net/portal/

I used the fitvids js and manually entered the “.container” as #ja-slider (user position) to get the video working responsively which is also a id tag of a div, and not a class. so why won’t the id div tag #ja-slideshow work in this instance?

Basically what’s the use of a responsive template if it doesn’t support responsive videos?

    Cheers Shannon

    Hello Shannon,

You can use percent (%) to set width iframe containing YouTube video. E.g.

    <iframe width=”90%” height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/XXXX” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

    Hi Stork,
While I appreciate your solution and the time you spend responding, I feel that’s not a really viable solution especially as I need the iframe to be dynamically resizeable, given the unknown view port of the current users device, precluding the declaration of a variable in place of percent I can’t see that solution working for all situations.

By the very name “responsive”, JA University should be designed & coded by JA to be responsive in all situations especially the display of videos which is one of the most popular & important uses of a website.

The fitvids extension goes a long way towards this, but as you would see if you bothered to review the extension, depends on entering the container the video resides in. You still haven’t told me why the Puresite video resizes using a div id as the container when the university site using a div id as container doesn’t?

    Hello Shannon,

As you mentioned above, you wanted to add video into slideshow module in JA University. But JA Puresite doesn’t use any slideshow module in it.

JA SlideshowLite module has some javascript codes to process slideshow. So sometimes you can’t place external resources in it.

    Regards.

    HI Stork
Thanks for the answer, can you suggest a suitable position in ja univerity where I CAN use the fitvids with some confidence it will work?

Further, can JA include in all future templates a special video position on the front page for the fitvids extension to use, that is: do some testing to ensure its compatible, or develop the fitvids extension further (Make a JA Version) and alter templates to have a special selection of compatible position to use & allow the fitvids extension to have a drop down selection of these special template postions we can just point to and select? This would give JA an edge over other clubs.
    Merry Christmas all

    Hello Shannon,

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll get the Development a ping on this. We’ll then put them on our backlog for further development!

    Regards.
