Hi, I think that look out of SEO. Though is useful for optimization 🙂
I would like to have two or more versions of languages: English and native one. For example en-GB and fr-FR etc.
In forums they offer to use:

    1. Two separate CMS i.e. two separate web-sites…
    2. Two domains example: en.domain.com, fr.domain.com etc.
    3. One! MySQL base and two different prefixes (e.g. _rof, _tof)

Probably one can say what is applicable in that case to save time and to be most convinient in terms of use.
Please tell if you have already tries anything from above and what disadvantages/advantages these methods have?

You can have your site with multilanguage with :
    + 1 cms
    + 1 database
+ Use htaccess file switch subdomain: en.domain.com, fr.domain.com etc

There are video and user guide about making multilanguage on your site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnhVVtyejPg&feature=relmfu and http://help.joomla.org/files/EN-GB_multilang_tutorial.pdf.

    Hope this helps you.

Sub domains fine idea but If you are going to place same content than make sure that you put no Index tag to one of your sub domain. If you keep on adding same content on both TLD’s than the Google webmaster will keep on informing you that you are adding multiple Duplicate pages and you have to look for HTML Improvements.
