March 27, 2012 at 5:52 am #175443Today I decided to just install virtuemart because I know it works with my authorize.net account and its compatible with joomla 2.5
I uninstalled joomshop and then I installed virtuemart and everything for the virtuemart showed up in the components area properly all indications were for a successful uninstall of joomshop and a successful install of virtuemart. When I clicked view site – nothing was there. I was expecting to see my products gone…but I only got this 404 component not found error code:You may not be able to visit this page because of:
1.an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
2.a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
3.a mistyped address
4.you have no access to this page
5.The requested resource was not found.
6.An error has occurred while processing your request.I have looked at other forum posts where people have used virtuemart with JA Tiris. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.:(( and what should I do to get my site back operational?

March 27, 2012 at 6:05 am #445843It is because the Home menü item is linked to Joomshopping. The easiest way to change this is to build a new Home menü item and assign this as default page.
Hope that helps

March 27, 2012 at 6:19 am #445847ok, I see where to create new menu item, but what should be the “menu type” be and how do I assign it as my default…. just want to
make sure that it gets assigned to the JA Tiris Template ok and not some other random place. Sorry for such
basic questions….but I think that you just saved my life. Thanks so much for your help.swissa Friendswissa

March 27, 2012 at 6:28 am #445848Menu type can be whatever you want it to be – it is for the part of the site that is below the slideshow on the front page – featured articles, perhaps the new virtuemart module?
To set it to be default, on the left hand side under where you name and assign the menü there is a radio selection to make it homepage.

March 27, 2012 at 6:45 am #445850ok…site is back but my slide show module and three modules under the slide show are gone…Im guessing this is because I need to reassign them to the new home menu…but question… im not sure what the parent item should be – I first tried root (not thinking) and got error message that a menu item already exists with that parent…so I chose “home” and the i could see the site again but the modules I listed above were missing and when I clicked on home it gave me the error message again…so what should I assign as the parent and was I right about just needing to reassign those other modules to my new home menu? thanks

March 27, 2012 at 6:50 am #445851It is to do with the alias names of the menüs.
On the old Home menü item you can change the alias (under the name) to oldhome and save it and then the new Home menü can have home. 🙂 It should be root as it is a main menü. The old Home menü can then be unpublished.
Yes, you may need to assign the modules again to the new ‘home’ menü.
Hope that helps you!

March 27, 2012 at 7:01 am #445853Awesome….I was actually doing what you are suggestion only thing is when the page first loads the explore and other menus won’t drop down but if i click explore it starts working properly…is that also to do with the alias? This should be the last question unless I run into a problem with assigning the other modules… then lol I may have to write again. you are very good at helping new people really start to
get the hang of this whole joomla mystery. If I could hug you I would give you a hug for all your help.
Thank

March 27, 2012 at 7:11 am #445854Hi Wendye
One thing that helps is if after any change that you click on the clean jat3 cache (in blue writing in admin manager near the top). This clears out any residing ‘memory’ so that it all loads new. You should also in template manager click on tiris and then set it to development mode – so that you see changes immediately, and also set the optimise css and js to no. That way you will be in full dev mode.
If you have done this it is easier for anyone to see if there are any problems and more importantly to see where they are and offer solutions to you!
All the best with the site!
