Steps to upgrade :

1. Take complete backup of your site.
2. Write down your template / plugins / extensions settings or take screenshots of the settings.
3. Unzip the attached file and upload / rewrite older files.
4. Recheck and redo the extension / template settings.
5. Remove installation_ folder (which has updated demo sample data dump file), most of you wont be needing it. Included it for interested members only.

IMPORTANT :

1. Template_patch_ONLY_teline_iii_1.2_to_1.3.zip >> This file is only to update the template. Unzip and upload via FTP.
2. Download and Reinstall all the modules / plugins. As all the modules / plugins are affected. Make sure you write down the settings at one place before uninstalling. So that you can replicate your settings easily.
3. Be Wise and take complete backup before attempting upgrade.

I get the following error message when I try to install the patch file from Joomla. I think you might have left out an upgrade step:

Template Install: Another template is already using directory: “/home/intexch/public_html/templates/ja_teline_iii”

I finally just extracted the files into the localhost version of my web site and mannually uploaded all the files to the server, overwriting existing files. Since I am creating a new site I didn’t have to worry about backups.

Looks like the “completed list” has doubled since the previous list. Before I do another upload is this final “completed list?”

Thanks very much Hung,

… and the Joomlart Staff and others who helped create this list. It will make updates much easier and less error prone. I hope this will be implemented universally.

Now, if the actual forum threads and/or script changes are included, the changelog database would even be more useful.

I hope this will be included in each update kit also.

Yes its the complete list. It took me time to recheck and recheck… As this is the first time we have tried releasing patch… please update us, if it works well… so that this would be released in the download section…. We are also testing it ….

The earlier list was only about the template. But this latest update has the extensions covered.

Make sure to take complete back up please.

Yes, I know. I was just hoping that an installation file was included. It is a real challenge to upload all the files to just the right folders. Anyway, I was careful to upload every file into the correct location and now my entire site is down and I get the following error message:
Warning: require_once(/home/intexch/public_html/plugins/system/plg_japopup/popupHelper.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/intexch/public_html/plugins/system/plg_japopup.php on line 44

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/intexch/public_html/plugins/system/plg_japopup/popupHelper.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/intexch/public_html/plugins/system/plg_japopup.php on line 44

I renamed the file helper.php in /plugins/system/plg_japopup/ to popupHelper.php and cleared up the previous error messages now I get a new error message:

Fatal error: Class ‘JAPopupHelper’ not found in /home/intexch/public_html/plugins/system/plg_japopup/fancybox/fancybox.php on line 18

Here is the code from line 18 of fancybox.php:

It doesn’t look like this was updated in the Demo Installation of Teline 3. I’m still showing version 1.2.

Complete patch file withdrawn for further testing. Checking what went wrong. I presume you have complete back up of your sites, as advised repeatedly in the upgrade instructions.

Extremely sorry for the inconvenience, It was not intended to cause trouble, I have been working on it for the past 7 hours and still onto it. Looking towards the requests for changelist of files, it was thought to provide list and patches… it is going to take some time before i can really find the problem, as technically its the correct changed files when compared in V 1.2 and V 1.3.

Please restore your files from your backup for now.

I can reconfirm that those are the only 158 files which are changed between the 1.2 and 1.3 version. Yet to find out what went wrong with japopup… anyone interested to help me on this is welcome.

Dear cgc0202,

The Complete zip of changed file has been withdrawn as upgrade does not go well by using it. It worked on my side. So the recommended way to update from V 1.2 to V 1.3 is as follows :

1. Take backup.
2. Write down your Template settings and use the template upgrade patch (see 1st post for the file).
3. Download and reinstall your modules / plugins. Make sure to write down their settings (screenshots), so that it would be easy to replicate the same after reinstall.
4. List of affected modules / plugins can be judged from the list of changed files (see 1st post).

I am still working on to refine the upgrade procedure.

This is the reason why I am ambivalent with your invitation (in another thread) early this month to provide tutorials relevant to Teline III. Partly because I am not familiar with the template, and partly, it is because I do things differently from the standard procedure of upgrading extensions.

I should note that I responded mainly to the observations of golfvilla and why (s)he was getting those errors. I encountered some of them before, like the errors I posted in #20. I do not know exactly what caused those errorsm but something caused them. However,, what I demonstrated is that using the “Upgrade (Patch) Procedure” I outlined eliminated the errors observed by golfvilla.

Just my own perspective in the matter.

1. Keep your perspective away from the threads. Make a new thread for the same.
2. Stop hijacking threads.
3. If you can not help actively, stop jumping into threads, with your perspectives.
4. You like it or not…. I give you one hour to copy your thread content from this thread.. before i delete them. You got issues with this, raise in general forum.
5. These are support forums, you got problems, put them in threads, you got wishlist put them in thread. You jump into some other thread with just lengthy suggestions or bashing JA… they would be deleted…. You are free to raise them as independent thread.
