I just updated from 1.6.5 and I had Ja Social to 1.7 and downloaded the quickstart for JaCommunity. I couldn’t see the template so I reinstalled (via FTP) quickstart and still unable to see new template and now when I go to my site Joomla 1.7 wont even start.

Did you start with a fresh/clean install – into an empty folder on your server – with new database(s)?
Did you install the sample data?

Just in case you may have had difficulty with the quickstart installation process, check out [url=http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-perform-a-quickstart-installation-a-step-by-step-guide/

I sat and watched the tutorial two or three times. It didn’t suggest that i delete all the files from my database. I did back up the databse and purged the cache. Will give it a try.

The tutorial assumes a fresh/clean install . . . my suggestion to clean/purge your current install/database was my specific suggestion for your particular situation.

Let me know how it goes.

    😎
