I am using JA Seline 1.5 template and it’s on a back up server. If I use Akeeba backup will my site upgrade? I’m told i have to rebuild my site. Can you please let me know what to do and how to do it and will the old template be compatible with the new.

Maybe you are referring to the Ja_Teline_IV template for joomla 1.5 ?

You have the Ja_Seleni for joomla 1.5 version so you cannot update at least at the 1.7 version of the template.

anyway you have to do to many steps to migrate your site with all modules and components

My suggestion was to take a backup of your site and use the jupgrade tool on localhost to step at least at the J 1.6
after you can test how your migration proceed with j1.7 and 2.5 version
