How to upgrade exist Teline II 1.0 template to 1.3? Can I just uninstall template and install 1.3 or Do I need extension upgrade, too?

Originally I installed with Joomla 1.5 Quickstart. Thanks

To upgrade you can just overwrite the template files, if you have done any modifications you need to do them on new. So i suggest a backup of the template files first.

    Hello,
I initially installed the 1.0 quickstart for version 1.5.

Per instructions above, I copied the 1.3 template files…but in the template manager, it’s still being reported as version 1.0.

Should I roll back the changes?

    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hi Menalto,

Is this true only for the template? Or, this is the true also for all extensiions?

When do you overwrite? And, when is there are need to use the procedure — uninstall the old one and install a new one?”

    Thanks.

For the template it is just to overwrite the old files.
For extensions, then a good thing is to read what the developer says, in some cases its just to overwrite some files, in other cases a uninstall is needed, so there is no exact answer on the extension part…..
If you are thinking of modules from Joomlart, i suggest to uninstall and then install on new.

Among the softwares I have used, including free (Open Source) they take pain to enumerate what the update is for, what bugs are corrected and what new features have been added.

I am not sure if I read anything like that with Joomlart updates.

They have to be dated also, so that you know what version you are using (and the reported errors or features upgraded or added). Correct me if I just missed the proper URL, but I do not see this information at all.

yeah would be wise to have so update patches we could install that would handle what files needed to be fixed……..
