It must have been a hard decision to release so quickly. Mistakes happen and when it does or if another exploit is discovered then usually a software team get all sorts of abuse and are made to look bad. I think teams should be congratulated for their efforts even in this case.

We’ve had it a couple of times over on Coppermine. A severe security issue came to light via milworm and a fix needed to be done quickly. Unfortunately the fix caused problems for one release of PHP (which was a bug in that version of PHP only). This caused a large quantity of users to experience problems as it seemed that release of PHP was quite popular. The bitching we got was incredible though Joachim dealt with it in his usual maner. When the fix was released a few days later we got more abuse.

So what I am trying to say is that all the work the Joomla team do is for you, in your interests. While it might have caused you a little extra work on this occasion, think about all the work Joomla has saved you over the years.

In terms of file size, it took me about 1 minute to upload the whole thing onto my server on a SLOW connection speed.

Yeah… that was a mighty fast update. Who’s running Joomla! now, Microsoft? 🙂
