Just want know if its possible to upload image using article image button – First, the browse button shows and within sec it disappears and changes to upload…nothing to upload unless you call the image from local folder and upload it to images folder. Am using telline III and not sure if additional confide is needed to get access to this joomla function OR images has to be uploaded via FTP first prior to inserting to articles. Please help. Its much easier using the backend if it allows uploading images directly into the image folder.
Also, tried to look for previous treads that has similar question, but was unable to locate..
    Thanks please let me know.

PS: sorry, was unable to attach image due to restricitons..

    Hi elmi,

in case you are using standard Joomla editor, then you need to upload the image first with Joomla’s Media Manager (which pops out when you click on the Image button below editor). I suggest you also open your Global Configuration, and on the System tab, switch Enable Flash Uploader to No, in case you’re having problems with your Flash version.

And now, in order to make your life easier, please download JCE editor component and plugin and install them as any other Joomla extension.

Once you do that, open your user account by clicking on your username in the User Manager (upper menu/Site/User Manager) and change your default editor to JCE.
Logout and login again in your Joomla backend and then open one of your articles.

After this, your life will never be the same

You should probably also open your JCE configuration and adjust it according to your needs.

Alright, by now you probably figured out that Joomla’s default editor ain’t of much help really.
With JCE you will be able to format your articles properly, add custom style sheets, upload images directly from editor field, and so on and so on. If you’re writing a lot of articles, you might even decide to buy the JCE subscription plugins, which enable you to insert videos, add file attachments etc.

    Good luck! 🙂

    You’re welcome 😉

I wouldn’t be afraid of the morning, things may just get more clear, not vice versa by then, and, i would seriously think of dumping that Joomla editor if i was you. Try JCE, or in fact, try any other editor, everything beats that builtin one. It’s more like a first aid editor until you get something proper.

    Good luck 🙂

I would agree, in absence of a FTP client, for example, when you’re not at your computer, eXtplorer (previously JoomlaXplorer) can be a lifesaver! 🙂
