December 18, 2012 at 1:12 pm #183215Hello.
I have a simple Joomla 2.5.8 site whose only purpose is to allow users to create, view, edit, or delete their own articles. That’s all. I do not want users to see any other user’s content.
Example: User1 logs in and creates three articles titled, Fun1, Fun2, and Fun3. User2 logs in and creates articles titled, Wow1, Wow2, and Wow3. Later, User1 logs in and he is able to click a menu item, say, “See Articles (List of Categories)”. When clicked, User1 gets a list of categories that have articles he’s authored. Articles created by User2 are not included in this list; so, the list indicates that there are only 3 articles within the list of categories. He clicks on the first category and sees his own article, Fun1, and edits it.
User2 has the identical experience. He can only create, view, edit, and delete content he’s authored himself.
Later, User3 is setup and logs in. User3 has not yet created anything. User3 sees nothing but his main menus because he has not created an article yet.
Is there an extension that would allow me to do the above? Or can this be done with ACL and Groups?

December 19, 2012 at 7:22 am #476749Hi realtoast,
You could try with viewing access level feature of Joomla. In Backend > Users > Access Levels, you can create your own access levels for User1, User2 and User3 separately.
Then in article titled Fun1, for example, change to your desired access level: http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/754/6743664659.png
Another solution is that you find out one extension support this feature in Joomla Extensions Directory
Best of lucks

April 19, 2013 at 2:21 pm #490461Thank you so much. I did not see that you had responded until this morning, months later, when I’m still trying to find out how to do this. I will look into your solution.

April 19, 2013 at 2:34 pm #490463Saguros,
I was able to create viewing access levels, as you described, say, UserView1. However, I do not see how I would then restrict User1 to having access only to UserView1 articles. In User manager > User1, there’s no means to limit User1 to just UserView1 articles.
Any help appreciated.
