January 15, 2009 at 10:16 pm #137155Hi all,
Could someone please help me urgently with my Uvite installation. This is what I have tried:
1. I downloaded the Quickstart zip file from this site and then unzipped it to locate the Quickstart qs zip file.
2. I then uploaded this to my host via FTP.
3. I then went to my host control panel and right-clicked on the qs zip to unzip it.
4. This file then unzipped to many files.
5. I then went to a browser and typed in ‘mydomain.co.uk/administrator.
6. I then got the following…‘A file permissions error has occurred. Please check the permissions on the script and the directory it is in and try again.’
Does anyone know why this is happening? I have tried it 4 times now, deleting and reinstalling. Very time consuming.
I have not touched any chmod stuff, and wouldnt know which files to touch anyway 🙂
:((
This is very urgent.Thank you in advance.
Paul.

January 16, 2009 at 7:04 pm #286828When you installed the site, at the start when Joomla did all the checks, where they all green?

January 16, 2009 at 7:55 pm #286836I didnt have any checks.
I have tried many ways to resolve this now.
I have uploaded the quickstart zip to the server and then unzipped it in my FTP client, aswell as unzipping the quickstart qs zip first and then uploading all files directly via FTP.
Am i right in thinking that i only need the quickstart qs zip? I havent uploaded any of the other files.
thanks

January 16, 2009 at 8:14 pm #286838In the main zip you download there are 3 folders, Extensions, Templates, and Quickstart. In the quickstart folder there is a zip called qs_j158_ja_uvite.zip and it’s this ZIP that you need to upload and extract. When you have it extracted go to your homepage (or other location you uploaded to) and follow the install instructions.
On the first or second step Joomla will perform a test to see if your server has a suitable configuration. Parameters that are good are green and parameters that are bad are red.
Are you getting any red ones?
Also… in the last few days there have been a lot of reports of corrupt downloads so re download the main zip agian and try that one.

January 16, 2009 at 8:42 pm #286844A corrupt download would make sense. I have used quickstart several times before and it has always worked.
No, i didnt even get red checks. All i get is the file permissions error.
I will download the file from joomlart again.
Thanks for your help
