I thought MICCAS said he will take a look at this or some Joomlart staff., as responded in a different thread.

    Here’s the deal:

I paid for 1 year regular membership — this started in 2 August 2007
I upgraded for 1 year Developer license

Shouldn’t I be having two full years of membership? meaning my renewal date should be on 2 August 2009?

Since I am not back to unlicensed member, this meant the answer (or lack of response) of Joomlart is NO.

If as dicussed in previous thread that my Developer license was advanced last year by a month. Once that elapsed, then my paid month of being a regular member should have been applied.

And, since I have been placed in “unlicensed membership”, the entire time that I was not able to enjoy the full privileges of my “registered membership” must be credited.

That did not happen. I am now back to unlicensed member for almost a week now. I have not been able to download a working Teline II.

Right now, I am reconsidering whether to extent my membership as a regular member or Developer member.

I am tempted just to have regular membership because there are not enough additional priveleges, like well-supported extensions, to make Developer membership be worth it. For more than a year now, there have not been any new template, like an improvement to Teline II, that I really needed to warrant getting too excited.

So far, since I am only creating websites for myself, the only reason for Developer is to ensure that I can register and license all the domains I own, and with the new policy, to ensure that I will not have to deal with the “copyright issues” enacted last year by Joomlart.

With these as caveats, may someone who has a Developer membership tell me what would be compelling reason to renew Developer rather than just simple licensed membership?

I may be missing something important that I have not considered in my next plan.

    Thanks.

    Cornelio

    P.S.
MICCAS or any other staff has not resolved this issue, as MICCAS said he will look into it. Since I have been unlicensed, I cannot now check my PM, to know if MICCAS responded to my response to his question. I am not sure also if his verdict was indeed to place me in the “Unlicensed” category

Am I missing something ??? You have 3 years worth of developer member credits. Can you not just redeem a developer license?

The rules say you cannot redeem points once membership has expired.

I really hope you sort this Cornelio. You have been a great person to have on the forums.

    Indeed Scotty and Phil,

I am as puzzled as Scotty with the development. That’s why I am surprised and very disappointed. In the other post, I already mentioned in the prior post

    Urgent. Membership
    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/urgent-membership/

that I was getting ready to renew my membership, and I have sufficient points to redeem and renew my membership (please see previous post — I even placed it in bold also in he prior post to signify my intentions).

I wanted to PM Hung, but he specifically mentioned that he did not want to get PMs. Unless Hung intervenes though, all my prior Job requests have not been satisfactorily answered. So, I have stucked to the forums.

Before I posted the above forum topic, I was initially indicated as UNLICENSED, but then it shifted to LICENSED again — (note the Edit made in my previous post to indicate this change) so I thought someone in the staff read my posts, and made the changes, finally rectifying my membership “anniversary” to 2 August.

If you read the prior posts, MICCAS stated that he would look into it, and to PM him. I did and I responded also to his question in PM. He asked when is the expiration date of my membership. I answered that I have no idea that I started on 2 August 2007 as a regular member (one year) and I upgraded to a Developer member for one year. If I get full membership for both, the duration should be two years — one year as “regular member and one year as Developer member.

When I came back to check if MICCAS responded, I was not able to access my PM anymore because I was again listed as Unlicensed member, and does could not access my PM because it is already more than 100% full. I had no way of checking if MICCAS tried to respond back to my response to his PM inquiry, but could not do so because I was no longer allowed to get any more messages.

Thus, I am not sure if it was MICCAS who decided to place me back to Unlicensed, or the system was not working properly.

I was hoping that either Hung, the staff or one of the Moderators have read the prior public post before this, but everyone has been mum to the issue. I like to think that upon reading MICCAS post, they assumed he would deal with the matter.

But, none of my attempt to resolve this seems to be working right now.

So, Scotty and Phil, if any of the Moderators listen to either of you, may you please consider tapping into their back to request any of them to deal with this issue.

As to why I am not redeeming as a Developer as yet, I want to do that when Joomlart comes with a template (like an update to Teline II) or a working extensions that I could use. So far, all my attempt to use the so-called Developer intended extensions did not materialize. When I encountered problems with these extenstions, no one from the staff responded to their resolution. It was apparent that I was not the only
one having issues with the same extension.

My first year here, I have been away from Joomlart for five months, joined another group, Gavick because I felt their news template was better than the original Teline — at the time, Joomlart did not respond to my requests for improvements to the original Teline. I came back only in May 2008, when they came out with Teline II which included a number of the features I requested in my first post in the forum (written a day after I joined). Teline II had many problems. I like to think that together with a number of members, and staff plus some Moderators, we all collaborated to resolve most of the problems with Teline II, and helped many members deal with their problems.

Second year. I have been away for more than 5 months again (total). Some templates are interesting but nothing was useful for my purposes. I have been using only Teline II for my own sites. If I downloaded any other template, it was usually to actually install them and help solve some questions that other members might have. Some even ask me in private, and if they are members, I respond or refer them to solved postings. If they are no longer members, I generally do not respond because that would be a way for some to circumvent having to become paid memders of Joomlart. I would have no way to verify also if they got their templates legitimately. But that is another issue.

I was hoping that Joomlart make some more improvements on the Teline II, but more than a year has elapsed (the original has been released in April 2008). I even helped fought a very bruising battle here to advocate — one template per month — gaining some vocal enemies along the way. Indeed, the one template per month was supposed to have won. I argued during that brutal debate that Joomlart could then use the time to improve support in the Forum. as well as improve templates — both existing and new ones — to avoid premature release of “beta templates” and most important, to improve the documentation for less technically capable members like myself.

If you can tell me that Joomlart delivered remarkably on my hopes, then I would not hesitate to keep on defending Joomlart when Joomlart had been maligned by others.

I might have been even more enthusiastic with my reception to the Magento products, which I assumed have siphoned most of the time of Joomlart to what should have been pllaced back to the improvements of the JA Series template, and possibly creation of more evolutiionary templates, like they have done with Teline II. The latter is still the best news-magazine template. However, there surely is a lot of room for improvements considering how it compares to actual news-magazine templates used by papers like commercial papers. I have seen several “news-magazine” templates used by “small internet papers” but my inquiry from the users did not get any response.

    Thanks.

I don’t see the logic here. If you redeem for 1 years developer membership today, and take into account how active you are on the forums, you mill most likely have another 6000 credits earned by the time that license expires. If this is true, and I think it is, then it is pointless in your case to hold off redemption in anticipation of JA maybe, or maybe not, releasing some kind of Teline III. (something I think myself is not needed)

Regarding when your license actually expired… If you joined in Sept’ 07 and lets say you upgraded (by credit redemption) to dev licence in June ’08. If that upgrade took immediate effect (an option MiCCAS usually gives) then your licence would have expired in June ’09. If the upgrade did not take immediate effect and came into place after your initial licence (Sept ’08) then your licence should not expire until Sept ’09.

As the system is automated I suspect an immediate upgrade was what happened. You can check this in the Member Area of the main site and look under Your Payment History.

If this is the case I do feel though that JA should still allow you to redeem your credits even though you are now unlicensed. The idea behind the credit system is to encourage people to be active on the forums and to offer support. With 21,000 credits you are clearly active and a valued contributor to the forums.

Have put you on my “Licensed Forum Developer Accounts” then you can at least see the forum’s and pm’s again. Hope that will help you get this sorted. Think it works that way anyways

I remember somewhere that one of the mods/admins let a user redeem their credits even after their account expired as they had not logged in for a while or something and just forgot to extend their account as opposed to paying to renew it.

However, I doubt you can get away with the whole “pay for two years, get two years” dealio – especially if you upgraded from Standard to Developer earlier than your expiry date though.

My guess is you upgraded in Late June or Early July last year, and hence since you requested requested a change in your terms of service (unlimited domains, access to JA Extensions etc).

Therefore, your previous terms where replaced with your new terms, which started on your date of purchase (and I also remember it being mentioned somewhere when I was purchasing mine halfway through my standard membership and felt a bit bummed out by it as well).

But hey – who knows, maybe JA Mods/Admins will sort it out for you.

I have had countless problems with account status since I originally singed up for a membership. Each time I’ve had to send something in regarding my account it takes days to receive a response. The last screw up they shorted me a month on dev membership and when I finally got it turned back on they did not even credit me for the month I had no dev privalges.

Like you the only reason I want it is for domain additions. I have two months now till my “Normal” membership expires and I’m debating if I even want to renew or take the time to post to get points up for a renewal. 6000 points seems sooooo far away lol.

I’m sorting this out with the user privately – if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue, please PM me and I’ll have it sorted.
