Do you happen to have a Teline II demo site running on Joomla 1.0.x anywhere that I can mess around in? I don’t want to try this on a ‘working’ site, but one that’s ready for the trash if I mess up!It’s for the next User Guide.
Thanks

Chris</blockquote>Yes Chris,
If you read post #11 above, it says:
*********************************************
If you want to try, you may register here:http://wr.treasuresoftheinternet.net/03/jte10x300/index.php
*********************************************It was created specially for you. I am creating one for someone you know (guess who, privately), and one for Ana. As you can see the date above was 30 June 2008. I have “moved on” a long time ago because I think we really need something better than all this, here.
I created this at the height of your frustration with your site, but I did not post it because I know you were occupied.
So, I posted #11 here instead. I thought I could eventually make you see the need for one.
Now, you saw the light.🙂
It will be your own Chris’s Test Site
as the name implies. If you want to test anything. Change the logo, grab any image for the Tutorial, please use this. Except you, (someone you know), Ana, and I, please do not allow anyone to enter this site. In fact, (someone you know), Ana, and I must not make any changes in
if they have any suggestion. They will do it on their own site, to be created in the same subdomain:
http://wr.treasuresoftheinternet.net/
Then, we can compare notes, more systematically. If need be, allow each other a peak to our Admin page.
I am writing a response to your last email. I hope it will help you understand the problem that made you very frustrated in the other post — articles going to other categories, instead of the intended category.
Register, try to look around the site. But, please wait for my email responding to your question, because I think it is key to the issue of the articles going to other categories, instead of the intended category.
Just remember this:
Computers remember numbers, for example, a Category ID (CID) => So the CID is permanent, not the category name., or anything you add in your site.
You cannot change the CID, but you can change the name, even the entire content.
As a result of the CID permanence: Note also that it is only the CID that determines the order of the Sections in the JA News. There was no need to include the actual name.
Another critical issue. When you modify the category name, apart from ensuring that the CID is the same in the Category manager, as in the Magazine menu
In the dialog box:
Category: All Categories (default)
the rest of the Categories for a Section are listed here, this is based on the Category names changes in the Category managerThere will be trouble if you did not change tthe default “All Categories”. You have to correlate the new Category name, not only with the correct CID, but also with the name, as modified in the Category manager.
Cornelio
N.B.
I have uploaded a Joomla 1.5x=Teline II also for the same purpose. I will let you install it so that you can grab the images also for the Tutorial for the “Quick Start Installation”.

July 3, 2008 at 3:12 pm #257840Chris,
I forgot to add in my email response.
What applies to categories apply also to the Sections, the Section CID is permanent, and this CID is set in the Section manager.
So, make sure that when the Sections names are changed in the Magazine menu, the CID is the same as that shown in the Section manager.
You can verify this in the Edit menu, based on the URL shown (it includes the CID number).
The other critical thing:
in the dialog box:
Section: All Sections (default)
the rest of the Sections listed here, this is based on the Section names changes in the Section managerrIf you do not change the default [/B]All Sections (default) and correlate the revised Section name with what was done in the Section manager, it will cause two new names to appear. It will also break the layout of one of the twin Section names.
Cornelio
Another added correction to email response:
While some categories are arranged in an orderly fashion in some sections, it turned out , it may not be the case in other Sections. It is very important therefore to ensure that the CID are really consistent for the same changes in the Section manager and the Magazine menu.
