i am helping my brother sort out better urls for seo etc..

I enabled “Use URL Rewriting enabled” – now all links on site fail and new pages i created

i also created a menu item with title “dunno” and alias dunno” with URL Rewriting enabled and http://www.totnesenergy.co.uk/dunno is not found

i set Use URL Rewriting back to disabled for now…

Also as a newby to joomla (plenty of wordpress/bigcommerce experience…), a few simple questions
1. To create a web page (i just want to knock out landing page eg http://www.totnesenergy.co.uk/solaroffer for example) – you need to a) create an article b) include that article in a menu item – is there not a quicker way? i might have it all wrong
2. where is the wysiwyg editor for creating a webpage? i have been hard coding html for some page text so far ?! my brother says enabling it for existing pages messes them up – mind you i dont even know where it is.. :-0
