I have a really dumb question. I am new to Joomla, but I have quite a bit of experience building my own web-sites. my question is…What are the User Modules for? I thought they were for users of the web-site to leave comments..sorta like a blog. If so I am trying to understand how to set that up and how it works.
I have a online craft store that I have finished, and I am trying to use Ja Genista as the portal/frontpage for the site where customers can leave comments about the products or ask questions….as well as have a slide show of the new products as I create them. My interest though is customers leaving comments. Is that possible with this and Joomla in general?

Can someone help explain how to set up a user module for comments, if it can be done.

Hi – user modules are just modules and the user part of it really only refers to the position that has been given as a placeholder in the template. If you do a preview site with positions from admin, you’ll see the positions defined to your template.
As for a module (or more likely a component) through which a user can leave a comment about your site – you need to look for a joomla extension that fits your needs. Google for joomla extensions.
If you do find a module that does this, then you will look at your module positions, and publish your module in the user position (or possibly top, bottom, left or right etc) that reflects the position you want on your page.
