hi i’m new to joomla and i wish to thank you for your hard work, i really appreciate your templates and extensions. I apologize for my english since i’m italian 🙂

I don’t know if this is the right place but i am stuck with a problem and i’ve searched on the virtuemart forum and posted there with no luck, so i hope that someone could give me at least a hint if not a solution.

first of all: i am using joomla 1.5.6 with JA Mesolite template, and Virtuemart 1.1.2 login module (i have disabled login component from joomla)

i’m posting because i’m experiencing the problem below, if i can guess it started after updating to 1.1.2 Virtuemart (the only major change i’ve made in this period on my site):

If i log from the frontend with an old user (pre-upgrade) i can do what i please as usual but if i try to do it with a new user account (even one created in the backend and even if i create it with administrator privileges) when i try to visualize account information i am asked to login again, in addiction to this when i go to the checkout page, i am always considered a new client and asked for billing information

i’ve also seen in the user tab of VM administration that all the old users (pre-upgrade) are also labeled as “shopper/(joomla group)” in the group column. Instead all the new created users (even administrators) are labeled “/(joomla group)” only. I have tried to modify this from the user page, setting the user to shopper manually, but there is no way to save the changes

    so far i’ve no ideas

sorry for the long post and thanks for your help

I’ve found a solution on an italian forum (Joomla.it) so i post it also here for those who had the same problem (at least it works for me – joomla 1.5.7 and VM 1.1.2):

My problem was due to two custom fields of the user registration form added: “tax code” (vm_extrafield – PHP_SHOP_SHOPPER_FORM_EXTRA_FIELD_1) and VAT (extrafield_2 – PHP_SHOP_SHOPPER_FORM_EXTRA_FIELD_2) I have deleted and recreated those fields ex novo and the problem disappeared. It seem it was a problem with the database
