January 10, 2012 at 12:24 am #172623Please help me understand. Is it possible to use typography in the Category description? You get lots of rich editing, the same as an article but typography won’t work (neither the JA Typo plugin nor manual html). Am I doing something wrong, or is this by design? If it doesn’t work there, I will have to make a new article for each category just to insert as the first leading article in lieu of using the description. It seems like it ought to work there. Thanks for your help.

January 10, 2012 at 1:31 am #433198Hi
# Typography actually just like css code pre-coded .
# By that way you can use typo anywhere you can want. Also in custom html. Just need follow right structure.Thank you

January 10, 2012 at 1:39 am #433202Great, I was hoping it was supposed to work. Now I just have to go about solving why. Thank you for your reply.
Here is the problem. Note the attached photos. I believed it to work just as you describe. This is a very new installation of Joomla 1.7 and I have installed JCE and JA Typo.
Even if I manually type the typo css it still does not work. I must be missing something obvious.

January 10, 2012 at 2:46 am #433209Okay. Your request for the url got me to set up a better test scenario for myself to. In the process I noticed that, the typography still actually saves properly and displays properly when viewing the page. There may be a problem with JCE’s WYSIWYG editor; it is not able to display the typography elements in the editor, though it does not change the code so it still works.
This problem is similar if I switch to TinyMCE. In the category description, if I use the JA Typo button it inserts the source but the editor cannot render it. However, in the article I can use the JA Typo button and it displays as expected. Not a huge deal, now that I have a work around, but I think there must be a css problem with the editor in category mode.

January 10, 2012 at 2:53 pm #433284Thanks for the reply but that doesn’t address the problem I’m having. See in the pictures I have already gotten the JA Typo button working; actually using the script you linked. The problem is simply that the editors can not render the typography css in the WYSIWYG mode, but only in category description editing.
Unfortunately, as you can see in the picture, the typography button is placed wrong, which doesn’t change much but spent far too much time getting it in the right place. Can’t get it. Very frustrating. I cannot find any reference to it, but I have done multiple clean install and it is the same. I don’t know what is screwed up about my installations but I’m sure hoping I can start building this website soon.
added:
I’ve gotten further in my testing. I did a complete drop of the database and Joomla folder. Build it from scratch. 1.7, then Purity, then JCE, and then Typo. The symptoms are the same.I have notice that I can use the typo button correctly in article, but if I ever try to use it in category I can not longer user it in article until I have cleared cache. I don’t know if the template css is clashing or what.

January 10, 2012 at 10:09 pm #433340I am really in need of some help. I cannot seem to use typography even in article. No matter the editor. Sometimes it show in the WYSIWYG sometimes it doesn’t. The more I test the more I realize cleaning out my cache makes no difference, no editor makes a difference, whether I have typo plug in or not. It works one out of ten times. I really just want to get to work.
If somebody is willing to do a remote session to get me squared away I would love to set that up.
