    Hi,

I have a running site using a custom template (based on raindrop-fjt) and I want to try T3 framework.

For now I want to set T3 visible to the admin and visitors will see the current one until I can make the change.

So the question is, may I have some compatibility issues between the two templates after installing T3 and its plugins or can I use both of them in the same site without problems?

    Thanks,
    Mauro.

    Hello Mauro,

Only templates based on T3 can run on T3 framework, so if you install T3 on your Joomla, but you don’t use T3-based templates.

There should not be any conflict with the other templates. You can try and check the same.

    Regards.

    Thank you Stork11.

Basically I want to install the T3 framework and create a new T3 template (or edit an already existing one) but, in the meanwhile, I want the visitors to still use the current non-t3 one until I have the T3 template finished.

I suppose it should not be any compatibility problem but I prefer to ask first.

    Regards,
    Mauro.

    Hi Stork,

All worked fine but for developing purposes and, if some modules are shared, between the active template and the new one, I recommend to deactivate joomla cache temporary.

In the rest I have no problems except although I select my custom layout (copied default.php layout, added a comment to the layout to identify it and build a new mainbody block) it always shows the default one.

I’m accesing to it adding “?template=ja_t3v3_blank” to the url. I don’t know if it affects.

    Regards,
    Mauro.

    Hello Mauro,

The syntax “?template=ja_t3v3_blank” is correct. Please clean your cache first, then try again. If problem still occurs, please send me URL of your site for further checking.

Hi Stork11, sorry for the late response.

You can see the site here: http://www.profesionalespsi.com/?template=ja_t3v3_blank (cache is disabled although i’m doing some updates)

What I did is the following:

    1) Make a copy of “templates/ja_t3v3_blank/tpls/default.php” renaming it to bubble.php in the same folder.
    2) Edit bubble.php file and add “<!– BUBBLE –>” just before the “</body>” tag. This was to check if the new layout is loading.
    3) In Joomla’s template editor select “bubble” as the default layout.
    4) Save the changes and refresh the site page to see the changes… nothing happens. If you see page source code, the <!– BUBBLE –> comment is missing.

Two things to take into account:

    1) If I edit the bubble template, for e.g., adding a new block, it is reflected in the layout -> module positions as expected.
    2) I could not test, changing the site for using the t3 template instead the original one. I always access the template using the “?template=ja_t3v3_blank” url param. May this the real problem.

    Regards,
    Mauro.
