Hi there!
Just after I installed the template I remember getting a valid page when checking.
But without having really changed anything in the code (I’ve edited the footer) I now get errors.
Could someone with more experience click ‘validate’ from my site and check the output. I’ve done this myself of course but I don’t quite see the root of the problem…
Hmmm.. a typical Joomla install comes with some content. If I have ‘published’ items but no module to put them in (for instance newsflashes that I don’t use). Would that cause problmes?
I’d appreciate any help.
Take care,
a

March 3, 2007 at 11:02 am #215217Hi Andretti,
The problem is come from your site’s links. Just turn on the Joomla! SEF feature and it’s gone.
March 3, 2007 at 1:49 pm #215221It { almost } worked like a charm 🙂
Joomla nags pretty hard about changing the name of htaccess.txt but that actually caused an internal server error with my server configuration.
Making the change to server friendly URLs and NOT renaming the htaccess.txt works. The backend functions properly (it seems and I hope!) and the site gets validated. Nice!
Thanks
a
UPDATE: No, the links are not working now on my site. However since the validation worked I see that you are right that it is connected with the way the links get written. I’ll have to figure out how to properly activare friendly URLs.
I don’t know what it didn’t work to just rename the htaccess.txt (and I didn’t rename it to another text file. I made sure the format was .htaccess.)UPDATE 2: For the sake of completeness. The problem is solved and the solution was renaming the htaccess.txt to .htaccess, just as Joomla states, but commenting out the first line of the file (as can be read in the ‘read me’ section of the htaccess.txt). I’m also uing open SEF 2.0 now, which seems nice.

I had similar problems when I started using OpenSEF to generate search engine friendly URLs etc . renaming the htaccess.txt to.htaccess isn’t enough, there is some code you must change in the file for things to work properlyy PM me and I’ll supply the corrected file and explain fully
