May 8, 2007 at 9:03 am #120141Hi Friends
probably a silly question since you cannot compare apples with pears. Nevertheless my question: What is more recommendable as forum: Joomlaboard or vbulletin. Thought that Joomlart has good reasons to use Vbulletin. On the other hand joomlaboard is widely used. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your advice

zorcolinothey both have their good points and bad, Joomla board is easier to integrate but less secure, Vbulletin is secure but a pain to get happening with templates and modules

May 8, 2007 at 11:43 pm #219718Hi ShannonN
I fully agree with you. Browsing various forums, I thought that – for me as a beginner- joomlaboard would be the better solution. Now my question: Do you have experience with fireboard. Seems to be the “newer” joomlaboard. Do you recommend it- I havent tried yet. Do you think it is stable? I am no friend of ” the newest piece of software is the best”, absolutely not, but you never know…..
Kind regards

zorcolinoI can’t say anything about Fireboard I have seen it here in showcased sites etc I use SMF better integration and lots of themes that give me matches to templates etc

May 9, 2007 at 9:05 am #219757To my knowledge the Fireboard is now stable and getting better and better every day. ( in ways of implementing new functions, mambots, modules and so on )
I do belive that this is the best forum around now and for sure will just continue to be better. IMHO

When you mention new functions mambots etc what are its main features that attract you to this forum over the other available ones?Cheers ShannonN

May 9, 2007 at 12:03 pm #219770Ok, my pointers:
1: Joint efforts from both the previous Joomlaboard and Fireboard developers makes this a solid product ( yes, Joomlaboard is ceasing to exist )
2: More than 12 different languages so far ( as far as I know )
3: Discussbot to put in articles
4: Community Builder Fireboard Tab Plugin
5: JoomFish support
6: Fireboard Search bot
7: Latest posts module
8: Latest subjects module
9: Top & Last users
10: Forum statistics
11: Show no reply messages
12: Fireboard Feed ( rss feed )These are the major advantages I can see. Yes, other boards have the same thing but these are great in addition to the way this is built, which is in many ways similar to the big, bold and really good forums out there ( like vbulletin and such )
Ok, enough rantering. Check it out yourselves…
