JAR … do you acknowledge this as a bug? ….there are several unanswered posts that describe the same issue in different ways.
Many people seem to be working around the bug by not displaying portrait orietated images on the front page.
The front page slideshow is a selling feature of the template … it doesn’t work … we need a solution…. please!

June 13, 2008 at 4:45 am #253367Hi.
plz say more detail about your probelm.
Joomla version, URL , error ,..June 13, 2008 at 5:02 am #253368regardless or any control panel setting … I have tried them all & all combinations…. the front page slide show will take a portrait orientated image and stretch it across the full width of the frame so that you only see the top half of the image in the frame and it is also distorted.
I will PM login details.
June 13, 2008 at 6:00 am #253373nguoiabcd,
the easiest solution will be to disable the code that attempts to resize images based on a width setting in the CP. The forum post in RSGALLAERY2 … http://rsgallery2.net/component/opti…7/topic,6739.0 from the developers of RSGALLERY2 say that they have a lot of problems with the resizing code and the best thing to do is take out this functionality.
We just need the front page slide show to display the image in its exact px size that we upload with no attempt to resize.
June 13, 2008 at 9:18 am #253398I provided you the details some time ago … when will you be able to look at this bug.
I will launch my website in 2 days and need a response …
The fix for the original RSGALLERY2 code (before JA modified it) is very simple …. if you spent 5 minutes on this I’m sure you could disable the resizing very quickly.

June 14, 2008 at 4:56 pm #253561This must be fixed with code. I have spent too much time on the template for this not to be fixed. Thanks to nguoiabcd his help last night on the work around for images prior to upload. His suggestion was to resize the image to fit in a 500×300 pixel. The only problem is, when a user goes to source image, that image is Variable x 300px and the image is not the true size and really tiny. I have examples on my site. BUT I don’t want the image to be small when they click on the actual image. I want the frontpage to display the entire veritcal image and not be distorted and when they click to view it, it displays the true larger source image.
ANYONE have a better solution via code?

June 16, 2008 at 4:27 am #253830Hi lovelife.
Thank for you idea.
RSslide module have size: 500×300, you should have original size images is width 5 and height 3
-> thumbnails and display images will look nice as demo
All images should have same size.
Or maybe you change module size follow your images.
RegardsJune 16, 2008 at 12:45 pm #253889can ANYONE at joomlart tell me how to stop the slider from resizing my images … YES or NO?

June 18, 2008 at 8:40 pm #254484Nope, I couldn’t get them to answer the question and had to do a workaround. This must be fixed with code. June 22, 2008 at 10:56 pm #255327geez. I have a problem with vertical pictures displaying properly in gallery. Vertical images are not resized, so the popup is same size as the gallery size. It’s stupid to resize my picture to make it 300x 500, whats the use of the pop up then??
Something this basic should be fixed.
problem 2 : fancy popup in settings rsgallery2. Does not work at all. What is the fancy pop-up function for Joomlart??
June 24, 2008 at 10:32 am #255792I gave up …. and to be fair to the joomlart team ….. the RSgallery2 forum can’t answer it either … it seems that the core design of this module didn’t cater for vertical images and I haven’t found a single solution anywhere …. heaps of “yer this works ….” but all emply promises.
I have worked around the issue which for me ended up being ok …. this is my solution …
I only use slider for my portfolio so limited images
I prepare all in photoshop anyway
I changed my slider frame to 600×400 to give me the same ratio as my D300
I have 2 photoshop actions, 1 for landscape and 1 portrait
the portrait sets a image size of 400 high with proportion scaling and then sets a canvas size of 600×400
then I fill the remainder of the canvas with black or white.
everything that I load on the site thats destined for the portfolio loads at 600×400 size
every auto anything in the rs config is off or set to 600 wide
I also increased the height of the slider so that the image doesn’t get covered by the thumbnails at the bottom.the results look pretty good …. lovelife-photography.com
hope this helps in some way…. cheers don
