Hi,
I just can’t get JA Mesolite to work. Or rather; I can’t get VirtueMart to work. I just get a blank page.
I’ve worked with the site on my local server. Installed the quickstart and it all worked fine.
But when I moved it to my web hotel it didn’t work.
I deleted all files in the root and deleted the database and tried to install a fresh one (with quickstart) just to see if the problem was with my work, but nops…I get a blank site page. The admin works, but I can’t get VM. When I try (in admin) I get a blank page.
If I disable all modules that has anything to do with VM, the site page woks fine. What to do?

December 21, 2008 at 4:54 pm #283700Hmm, That is an odd one.
I was able to find quite a few posts on the virtuemart forum regarding blank pages but as usual 99% of posts there go unanswered. One mentioned server permissions the other that all files did not upload properly.
If your normal joomla administartion works fine I would try changing the main template and see if virtuemart shows up. If it does I would guess the problem has something to do with the mesolite template itself. If that is the case I might try the “premium” email support and have them take a look at it.
On a side not if you unpacked the quickinstall on your hard drive and then uploaded the structure to your host you may try uploading the quickinstall package file to your server and then unpack it directly on your server. (using file manager on cpanel)
You could also turn on debug and see if anything comes up when you try to access the VM pages.
December 21, 2008 at 5:13 pm #283701Hi nefar,
I’ve build some 50 Joomla sites. That doesn’t make me an expert, but I’m quite familiar with finding and resovling errors. But this one is out of my league… 🙂
Nops, it’s the same result if I try the other templates.
I’ve tried both uploading unpacked files from my harddrive and unpack it directly on the server (the quickstart). Didn’t work…The debug doesn’t help that much since not even the debug is shown on the front page… 🙂
(and the debug on the admin page doesn’t show anything that gives me any hints)The thing that bugs me the most is that it all works just fine when I work with it on my local server (on my MacBook). I’ve tried to move around the site to different databases and folders on my harddrive. It always works. Both with the site I’m working on and fresh installs. But when I try to upload it to my online server (where I have 7 other Joomlas running just fine) it ****s up!
Why, oh why… 🙂I have send an email to the support, but haven’t got any respons (yet).

December 21, 2008 at 7:35 pm #283707I know the feeling 😉
Every time I put up a new Joomla site I end up running into an issue that I’ve never run into with any other installations lol. What bugs me is I know I’ve seen mention of the blank page syndrome more then once but just can’t remember where. However, if you’re used to tracking down problems I’m sure you’ve already done the basic steps we all go through as we are losing our sanity lol.
With the support email make sure you actually check your ticket through the website. I put in a ticket few weeks ago and was getting quite annoyed with no response. (was waiting for an email reply) I never received an email but the ticket was answered via the web interface. Have fun with the language barrier too Ha.
December 21, 2008 at 8:30 pm #283711You’re right. I’ve seen in forums that I’m not alone with this blank page problem. There are several posts about it. But no solutions…
Hehe… I suspected that. I couldn’t pay to be a member, and asked what to do. But got no help from the support…
It went so far (in my third mail I think) that I said that my customer want this template NOW, and if they didn’t answer I’d find a pirated copy at Rapidshare or something…. 🙂
Finally I found the solution myself. Their payment system doesn’t work with Mac + FF, so I used Win + IE.So, if they aren’t interested in helping people who WANTS pay, how will they be AFTER one has paid…
Looks like I’m about to find out… 🙂I didn’t know about the ticket system. I’ll put in a ticket right away, and we’ll see what happens. If I get a solution, I’ll post it here.
Cheers!
/BosseDecember 23, 2008 at 2:23 pm #283862Solved!
First of all: I’ll take it all back! The support rocks!
I send in a ticket, and they responded almost immediate. Took them some day to locate the probs. It was a memory problem. They solved it by adding the following script:
ini_set(‘memory_limit’, ’20M’);
to the configuration.php file.
Now it works like a charm.
Happy Christmas everybody!
