May 4, 2011 at 6:23 pm #163589I recently installed the JA Anion template on http://www.renocomputerguy.com and encountered the following W3C markup validation error:
Validation Output: 1 Error
ERROR Line 489, Column 6: end tag for "small" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified
</div >
You may have neglected to close an element, or perhaps you meant to "self-close" an element, that is, ending it with "/>" instead of ">".
INFO Line 488, Column 2: start tag was here
<small>Copyright © 2011 The Computer Guy. All Rights Reserved.
I have tried to find the error in the PHP files but can not find the source of the problem. Please help me with this compliance issue.

May 4, 2011 at 7:15 pm #389843The problem is the edits you have made to the footer. Yo are specifying small text and not closing the tag.
How did you modify the footer? Did you follow the instructions in our PDF or have you put a custom html module in that position?

I’m not certain. I can’t even find the file to modify the footer to check. If you know where I can find it I can check?Phill ModeratorPhill

I can not find the Copyright Removal PDF anywhere in the forums, blogs or FAQ. How can I get my template updated and in W3C compliance without this guide?
After reading through the forums, it appears that JoomlArt does not offer support on this topic and the Copyright Removal PDF guide that JoomlArt moderators keep referring people to is absent from the JoomlArt website. What’s going on here. I’m beginning to regret my membership.

May 5, 2011 at 7:42 am #389912The copyright removal is only available to developer members or those who purchase the right to remove the copyright. Personal licenced members should keep the copyright in tact or purchase the PDF here – http://www.joomlart.com/member/signup.php
Here are the details from the sighnup page

May 5, 2011 at 8:44 am #389936Here’s the problem; I’m not trying to remove the copyright info. I’m trying to correct the error in the copyright to make my site W3C compliant. The W3C validation says the footer is missing from the closing tag. You’re telling me that the closing tag is missing and I’m not permitted to correct the issue in the copyright unless I pay to fix JoomlArt’s mistake. I don’t understand this business practice. To be quite honest, it sounds like you’ve confirmed my earlier feeling of regret for purchasing this membership.

May 5, 2011 at 9:07 am #389940As you have taken the site down it is impossible to say.
The footer has been edited to be one of your own so you must know how you edited it. The wording was yours not that of JA hence my question of how you modified it. JA certainly did not put your text in the footer. I’m not trying to sound aggressive but if you do not know how you modified the footer with your text then how can I know? All I can do is point out what I see.
