Can anyone suggest the best solution if I want to use RomanCart for an ecommerce website (UK based). I don’t really want to use VirtueMart etc.

mesolite looks good but when I uninstalled Virtuemart it broke. Advice on how to remove it without destroying the template would be appreciated. I suppose I should ask this in the mesolite forum though?

I am an absolute beginner with JA and Joomla but am foolish enough to attempt fairly major amendments if a solution is possible.

RomanCart?
then you can start with just joomla and the template installed and forget the quickstart package.
The rest after there is up to you on how you want to ddo the rest of it.

there might be some parts of the template that dont work as the demo when you use just the template without virtuemart, if you notice any problems with just post it here again and give a brief description about the problem, live site url and joomla version.
