Hi on the home page right above the body it says Welcome to front page and I cannot find where I can edit or delete this.

In Administrator, please go to Menus -> mainmenu,
click Home link to edit this menu to a name that you want.
After that, you will see Parameters, select Show Page Title to No, save changes.

Menus -> Main Menu -> Home -> System (Parameters) On right -> Change / remove there.

The best think to do imho is to use the Title Manager Extension

I’ve never used this extension, but am intrigued at your claim that it is “the best thing to do”.
