i cant seem to find where to change this bit of the text which appears in the meta of the page and just above the frontpage articles.

I’m sure its easy…but i cant find it.

Found it.
To change meta title of index go to

Menus -> Main Menu -> Home -> System (Parameters)
Change title there.
