    Hey There.

I’m going to be making some video tutorials, but I need to know some ideas on what you’d like to see them about. Installing templates? Setting something up? Whatever it is reply here.

    Hi Miccas
absolutely great. For beginners like me anti-frustrating and time-consuming. Subjects I still struggle with despite reading books are: a) mods to templates i.e. header logo change, modification footer b) changing position of modules c) installing and linking videos and audio using d) creating new sections, categories and linking them to menu and submenues d( installing fireboard and… and …. and….
I have many friends struggling with same problems and therefore not really advancing in learning / using joomla. You will see your membership explode if you come up with good tutorials. Problem of most of existing tutorials for joomla is that they are written without beginners problems in mind i.e. assuning too much basic knowledge. From my own experience writing tutorials I had to accept that you need to come up with a truly step by step approach, patiently explaining every aspect of the job, paying attention to the quality of the speaker and audio quality, making files available as downloadable PDF files and so forth… quite time-consuming, agreed, but highly rewarding. I also think that JA is doing some great word in explaining the installation of templates. Keep going and many thanks

    Hi MiCCAS,
I would like to see a tutorial on which lines in the CSS effects which parts of the templates. It would be great to have one included with each template. Also, when JA includes a custom module like JA-News, the instructions included in the user guide is understandable by someone comfortable with Joomla, but for a newbie a video guide would head off a lot of forum questions.

BTW The support here has grown 10 fold since I joined. Keep up the great work!

Not particulary for me but I think these pointers are important to focus on:

1: What is a module on how does it work ( parameters, settings and such )
2: What are the options for “creating links”. In other words, when you click on “new” for menu item, what are all the different choices there for ( static content link, component and so on ) I think a lot of people are confused about this.
3: Agree with Bill, which parts of the CSS runs which part of the templates. Focus on the main parts:
    – headers
    – links
    – module parameters
    – fonts ( main font used for the site )

Also a basic “how to add new modules to the template” and such would be great for me but on a more advanced level. But I would need something a bit advanced. So anything you can dig up I think would be great!!!!

This is soooo good news. Looking forward to learning more and more..

    Hi Miccas
thank you. Nice start. You might consider adding an audiofile. If the task is simple- like installing a zipped template, then text alone is ok. I just imagine that it might be pretty difficullt to rely only on text if tasks become more difficult. Please also add upload of an unzipped template. BTW what kind of software are you using? I get quite nice results with Camtasia Studio…
    Kind regards

    Hi MiCCAS,
Very nice! Straight forward and easy to understand. I don’t think you will be getting any questions on installation after they see this tutorial. Keep up the great work!

Just one question, what’s a template? :p LOL

Looks Good! I can help as well with video tutorials, I have Camtasia too. . . Would it be better to have a Forum Topic Labeled “Video Tutorials” under the members section, or have individual Video Tutorial Sticky Folders inside each template thread. Obviously there’s lot’s of video’s that need to be recorded, let’s see if we can make a list of what we need? I know ErikT had started a small list. . .We might need to have a separate Video Tutorials section.
